Hotel with creche or childcare for a 10 month old baby?

DP and I are looking to go on holiday in Feb/March. I'd really like to find a hotel with a creche or childcare so that DP and I can have just an hour or 2 to ourselves during the day! DS will be 10 months old.

All the places I've found so far have Kids Clubs which don't take children till they're about 3 or 5.

I'm ideally looking for somewhere warm with minimal jet lag. Can you recommend anywhere?
Many thanks!!

We did Mark Warner with a 4 1/2 month old and they have places in Egypt.

If it's just a couple of hours a day you can enquire about babysitting rather than kids club.
Usually about 10 euros/hour often a lot cheaper when out of europe.
If you can factor in this cost , it might be less restrictive than looking for a baby club (quite rare).

Where do you want to go?

Thanks for those suggestions.

Slim, that's a good idea about babysitting, do you know of anywhere?

We are dead lucky in that I work for an airline and have free tickets for all 3 of use - so we can go anywhere in the world really .

I guess if we cant somewhere warm with minimal jetlag we could try cyprus, middle east (dubai/oman?), south africa?

Lucky you!
If your little one sleeps through, I would definitely recommend long haul overnight.
Never been to south Africa. I think the wine/garrden route & Cape Town could be lovely but you'd have to rule out safari.

Mauritius fantastic. It's a very popular destination for families and most hotels have goood experienced babysitters.
(we did that with 7 months old DS. Our babysitter was like nanna in Gone with the wind, she never put him down and cuddled and fed him constantly)

Dubai/Oman sounds very good too.
Been to Dubai when DS 18 months old. We had a lovely (mauritian!!) babysitter there too. Also popular child friendly destination and also nice to go out evenings, More fun for you 2.

Personnaly I would go to Asia. Jet lag bad first 3 days though. No problem on way back if you do night flights.
Here again, babysitting widely available and dead cheap so you can do many more hours!
We live in singapore and been around a bit.
Thailand/malaysia are very safe, have excellent medical care if needed and weather is great that time of year.

You can look up room rates on asiarooms.com

The rreason I suggest asia, is because flights and jet lag will be much more difficult when he's a tooddler.
Basically now they eat and sleep and play a little but you do not have to run after them around the pool/on the beach.

Of course carribean very good too, but I'm very biased as I find service sooooooo much better this side of the world( and sanitary conditions too).

zebedee1 · 13/01/2008 18:48

Thank you slim for your suggestions. I had not even thought of mauritius, sounds lovely. I have instructed DP to look at hotels in Mauritius and S Africa as we can do a night flight there.

I would love to go to Asia but think the jet lag might mess up DS's sleep a bit! Also, we would have to fly to Bangkok or Singapore then get a connection to our beach destination, might be a bit of a long trip. Lucky you being in Singapore! Not far to malaysia which is one of the nicest places I've ever been to!
