To take pushchair or not ?!

Hi ,

We have a 3 year old daughter & we're due to go to Kia next Saturday & in a debate if we should take the pushchair or not ?!

We don't really use it anymore as she uses her bike most of the time when we're out & about. Last time we used it was for Crufts ... & the thing is she stays in it ALL of the time if she has access to it.

I don't want to make the mistake of not taking it if we may need it !

Was maybe thinking of one of the scooter suitcases instead ... Flyte Scootin' case ... has one one tried these .. any opinions ?
Thanks.

If she doesn't nap anymore i wouldn't take it, at 3 yo i took our baby carrier so when she did get tired of walking at end of day i could put her on my back as i couldn't just carry her by that age

I don’t know where Kia is but…. Those scooter suitcase things are a complete pain and it will be you be dragging it along with the luggage. If you’re doing any airports late at night then she could sleep in the pushchair, same if you plan on going out past her usual bedtime. Personally I’d take it but don’t give her access to it the entire time. Just keep it for evenings, airport for example.

Where is Kia?

I’d only take it if you’ll be out on long day trips or going out in the evening and want her to sleep in it while you have dinner

I wouldn’t take a wheely case or anything, more hassle than they’re worth!

We had a light bare bones push chair that we took on holidays. We’d use it in the airports and check it at the gate. But we did lots of days out with walking miles and so their little legs needed a break now and then. They’re also useful as a way to carry purchases. I agree on the wheely scooter cases…they are naff.

Take the pushchair! I’ve seen loads of folk with 3 year olds having to buy them abroad when they thought they could manage without as they did at home!

Never mine your dd, how do you carry the beer back to your apartment without a pushchair?😂

Greenfrog78 · 25/05/2022 09:07

I sold my cheap foldable one for tenner to someone going in holiday who just wanted cheap one to leave out there( storys about damaged ones). If it's hot they dont like walking, makes holiday harder. I'd look in charity shops,Facebook or ebay for cheap one.

PandaOrLion · 25/05/2022 09:09

I’d say take it. Is Kia hot/European/likely to be eating later? We were in Spain recently and most restaurants opened at 8pm - she could sleep in the pushchair in that situation.

EverydayImPuzzling · 25/05/2022 09:15

We’ve just been away with our 2yr 9m old and took a light portable pushchair (buggy I guess). Absolutely invaluable at the airports and during the holiday when they just generally get more tired and unsettled due to being out of routine. Also as PP said for sleeping in the evening at restaurants. You’ll probably regret not taking one, even if she spends more time in it than you’d like, it’s a holiday with a small child - normal rules don’t apply.

Dogsandbabies · 25/05/2022 09:19

Do you mean Kea? In Greece? If so I wouldn't bother. Greek pavements and streets are not particularly buggy friendly. We don't even take a buggy for my 10 month old.

Sorry auto correct - Kos !
We're all inclusive but on a big resort, we won't be leaving the respite for trips etc ... I'm also 6 months pregnant so definitely don't want to be carrying her !

Scooter off the cards then as they are expensive too so it doesn't sound worth it !
Think I may just get a cheap pushchair off of FB marketplace as our icandy is for best (new baby) & the Joie one is quite big & doesn't fold small.

We have an evening / night flight on the way home so we would probably need it then thinking about it.

We do have a silver cross Jet but thought she'd be way too big for it tbh. She's 98cm tall & just worry she'll be too big for most pushchairs now.

She really isn’t too big! We were taking out Maclaren buggy with us when ds was 5 and he was way taller than 98cm then!

You could check with the resort if they have any pushchairs to rent. We took a cheap fold up umbrella type pushchair as my 3 year old son was usually asleep by 8 pm so when out in restaurant would pop him in there to sleep.

Yes take it. We are on a similar holiday at the moment with 3 and 4 year old DCs. So glad we brought the double pram! Got us through security quicker at the airport and they're both complaining of tired legs after a morning at the pool. Also means they can snooze or rest in the pram after dinner if no one else is ready for bed.

LaurenH0893 · 31/05/2022 14:44

Thanks everyone.
Decision made ... Mainly by the evening/night flight home situation ... she will deffo need it then.
Plus it folds so small & is easy to use we would rather take it than not ☺️
4 day count down so excited to go now ! X
Thanks again
