Snorkelling Tenerife?

Hiya, has anyone ever snorkelled in Tenerife with young kids? My little girl really wants to do this, the boat trips have age limits and it seems there are a few shallow spots you can independently snorkel but was hoping for a recommendation. We have a car so can go anywhere on the island.

Tenerife is awful for snorkelling - the Atlantic is really salty and quite rough.

That said, Playa de La Arena on the south of the island near las Gigantes is very sheltered and you can see some nice fish there. It's black sand so you need flip flops because it gets really hot

I loved snorkeling in Tenerife! There are natural rock pools in different areas.

I can't remember where we were, but there was a natural rock pool that was very shallow with loads of fish and sheltered from the waves. Water was very cold though.

I've dived and snorkelled in Tenerife a few times. When your DD is old enough for the boat trips and swimming in deep water, you want to go see the turtles and rays at Palm Mar, absolutely amazing.

However, have googled and found this:

It says it's near Playa de la Arena, but I'm not sure where that is, this website says it's in the northeast, but a PP says near Las Gigantes.

There's also El Puertito, on the SW coast.

But seeing as you're looking to drive around, what we've always done is stay in the south for the best weather, easiest from the airport etc, and then during the holiday have a few trips out in different directions, to get a different feel for the islands. I'm not sure I'd stay in the north if I was wanting a beach holiday, unless in high summer, as if you go at other times, the weather is very changeable and more likely to rain.
