France - where would you go?

I really want to go to France this summer but find it such a stressful country to choose where to go as it's so big!

So if you were planning a week there, going over on the tunnel, weren't looking for sunshine (so no need to drive to the south), where would you go?

DD is disabled and we won't be able to do much exploring other than by car. So it'll just be about baguettes and croissants, cafes and just French ambiance. And we'd self-cater rather than stay in a hotel.

As your DC are both adults what about Champagne/Southern Picardy - 2 hours from the tunnel. Many of the First World War sites are very accessible for the disabled and in Champagne Mercier cellar tour is fully accessible for all as it has lift access and wheelchair access motorised driverless train in the cellars.
There is also Le Touquet has a wonderful wide beach and fabulous shops. Saint Valery sur Somme is less glam, but more rustic beach resort. Arras is also a stunning city.
In fact as I write I remember how much there is to see and do in Picardy - the region that Calais itself is in.

Loire is beautiful

Further afield Carcassonne but if In a wheelchair it's quite uphill

“Dolphin gites

We’ve stayed here before

So have we! It's is lovely there and the gites are all on one level, which is another factor. We flew to Nantes then which made it a very easy trip. Flying is off the cards for now though. Not to mention they get booked up very quickly so the likelihood of a week in August is very low (though I haven't checked).

Bordeaux is too far a drive plus will be absolutely roasting hot in August, 35 degrees ish. Also bear in Mind that the first two weeks of August are peak French holidays and the roads will be very busy heading south and places will be booked up.

Normandy, as noted Bordeaux is too far in the car.
