I'm going on my first holiday abroad as a single parent, with my oldest Daughter and thought I'd ask on here if anyone has any recommendations on the best place to go 😊

Looking for somewhere safe for us, I'm 30 and my daughter is 12. Ideally, staying on the resort and has everything there, all inclusive. Budget is around 2K. Not going to moan about it being cheaper 😬 I was thinking a smaller resort would be better as less people and small children, so we can relax. I've had a promotion and I want to treat us to a relaxing sunny holiday! I'm also abit unsure on hotel transfers so any help on that would be really appreciated!! Never taken her abroad alone before so a little nervous. Looking at end of July as youngest wants a caravan holiday with Dad so having taking advantage of the break! Thanks!

I'd suggest having a look at either the tui or jet2 website. Might be better if you have an idea of where you'd like to go e.g Spain or Greece? As there are hundreds of holidays that would fit that description. Airport transfers are included if you book through a tour operator.

I've been looking at Majorca. Seems nice! I usually go Italy or Turkey so it's somewhere new.

Portugal is lovely.
Jet2 has smaller resorts iirc.

calmlakes · 21/05/2022 13:54

We had a really nice jet2 holiday, we went to SunGardens Dubrovnik in Croatia.
It was very hassle free. We didn't have all inclusive but I would recommend Jet2 holidays.

I was told Portugal wasn't very safe for single women. I'm guessing that's not true? I like Portugal and was considering till someone told me this.

Pretty sure it's jet2 who are doing a single parent discount too. I've found a really nice place called Sa Coma. I will take a look at Croatia, ive never considered it so will have a look tonight!. Just so confused on covid issue now!

Majorca is lovely but it's not cheap to eat out.
I'd always go for somewhere that's not too far to fly, has stuff to do locally as guessing you'll not want to just sit sunbathing all day?
Try Tsilivi in Zante. Lots of places to eat that aren't expensive, huge choose of either self catering or all inclusive places so kids clubs etc and there's water sports / crazy golf etc there too so really good for a parent and kid holiday.
X

I will have a look at Zante. I always thought that was a party place but it does look really nice. I want to venture out and about but because I'm on my own, I want to go somewhere safer than if I was a couple, if that makes sense. I'm sure I'm just over thinking it and I'll be fine once I'm there! There's so many places to choose and I just don't know what place. My 12 year old said she wants to go somewhere relaxing like a spa hotel rather than one with small children but I don't mind really x

Malaga is nice. Easy transfers from airport. Some great, family friendly hotels with kids clubs, parks, games rooms, etc. And depending on your interests, there's lots of musuems, art galleries, etc, too.

@BlueIvy11 I've stayed in sa coma Majorca and didnt really like it. Its very much Britain abroad. The beach gets absolutely rammed in Summer, although cala Millor is nearby for a better beach. I realise however that everyone's different though and it's popular resort. I think if you want to try sa coma I'd go for the Protur Safari Park Hotel or maybe the Globales Bouganvilla.

Canaries? I had a lovely week in Tenerife at Easter. I divorced 12 years ago and took my daughter away just the two of us for years. Have never felt unsafe.

Los Gigantes, Tenerife the Royal Sun Resort book directly or through Tui.

Reasonably priced shop on site and all rooms have self catering facilities, 2 lovely restaurants. We went half-board but you can just add drinks, ice creams etc to your room and pay at the end of your stay, for 3 of us having multiple cocktails, ice creams and soft drinks a day it only came to £160 for 14 nights. You can book luxury rooms with a jacuzzi, there's a toddler pool and a normal pool. There is a bigger pool in the town with flumes etc, Great beach for snorkeling.
Day trips to the big waterpark, volcano tours etc all leave directly from the hotel, or there is a bus station at the bottom of the hill.

It has the best views but is up the top of a high hill meaning you don't get the noise from the busier resort below but it is a trek to the town but taxis are cheap.

The staff are really nice, evening entertainment is over by 10pm which suits us but you can go into town for the evening if you want a rowdier night. We preferred to go back to the room and spend the evening on the large balcony.

Aww really? It looks really nice but my daughter wants a relaxing holiday so I think this will be frustrating for her! I will look at both of those, thank you!

This sounds what we would like! We are very outdoorsy and want to get out and have a look around/activities. I will look at this now. £160 is a bargain. My daughter be having soft drinks and I won't be drinking alot anyway so that sounds good. I wanted all inclusive for the ease of it really. Thank you!
