I carefully bookmarked all the info last year when we'd first thought about the north Brittany coast but of course all the web pages have expired! I can't remember who the companies are whom MNetters say offer almost exactly the same chalets etc but without kids clubs thus much cheaper than the Big Companies prices?

custy told me about one.... racks brain....aaah can't remember. Will come back to you..... could it be Venue holidays?

CUSTARDO where art thou?

girasole · 12/01/2008 17:18

Kbear is correct, it is Venue that Custardo recommended. They are much cheaper than Keycamp etc. Also, Roan are quite cheap I think. They are a Dutch company.

The cheapest option is usually to book accommodation directly with the campsite of your choice. Most of them offer their own mobile homes and/or chalets.

i have found a new one selectcamp

they only do the accomodation - you sort out the travel

high season tents below £300 - august - shit - you - not add in the £140 eurotunnel and bobs your fucking uncle and fanny is your fucking aunt!

i am booking a mobile home with them - for two families - one of 3 adults 2 teens (me) and another of 2 adults 2 children in seperate accomodation - just over a grand end of august

that was the price quoted for Just Mine at keycamp in a caravan.

even if a ferry is a lot more expensive - i bet on the whole its cheaper

canvas holidays are alot cheaper than key camp. i like to go with a british company so that the girls are more likely to find little english speaking friends pitched nearby.

we went to ile de re with a french company once, and they didnt make any little friends as they couldnt communicate and werent allowed to go to the british speaking children's clubs...something to think about if your LOs are small.

i booked through this British company last year - who book directly with the campsite for you.

There is a link on that site to O'Hara Vacances - despite the name they are a French company that you can also book through. We used O'Hara and they were excellent. We weren't bothered about holiday clubs - the kids went to the one run by the campsite one day and managed ok - the person running it spoke English.

BTW this year we are booking directly with the campsite ourselves - only because we wanted to go to places that those companies don't cover. I am expecting that the mobile homes may not be as nice (the O'Hara ones were brand new and very clean) but will report back after the summer!

use your Tesco vouchers and go with French Life - cheapest cos if you have enought vouchers it's free!!

welshdeb · 15/01/2008 20:03

You could try French Life and Ian Mearns.

Also a french chain Les Castells who run very up market sites who usually have a chateau in their grounds.

In my experience nearly all sites I have gone to deal direct, try a search on UK Campsite web site.
