Anyone used Eurostar from London St Pancras to Amsterdam?

Just that really :)
I've never used the Eurostar before and will be travelling with a young child.
How many hours before departure do you need to "check in" at St Pancras?
Are there toilets in each carriage? (I have a bladder problem).
Does the direct service stop anywhere en route?
Do you get to see much in terms of nice scenery?
Thanks x

Eurostar recommend an hour before departure and IME experience the queue moves quite quickly, even if it's very long. They have different security gates for different trains and will hurry you through if time is running out.

There is a toilet bit in between every other carriage with 3/4 toilets, so people are coming at them from both sides iyswim.

If you booked your tickets with Eurostar themselves you can change your seats. There is a children's carriage, although I seem to recall some of their toilets are baby change rooms which might be less good for you.

I love travelling on the Eurostar. We're off again this summer after a three-year hiatus!!!

Did this trip four years ago, though alone. As things re check-in etc may have changed since then, I'll leave others to advise about that.
But re your other questions...we stopped at Brussels and Rotterdam en route. There was also a stop near/at Lille but only to change train crew.
Weather was a bit overcast that day, but still some nice scenery, particularly crossing the Hollandse Diep.
Found the seating very roomy with good luggage storage (both near/above seats and at the end of the carriage). This was in ordinary standard class. Wi-fi was unreliable though, until we left Brussels where most passengers got off.
For really detailed info, have a look at the "maninseat61" website - he's a mine of info on rail travel.
I'm planning on doing the trip again later this year... should be even better than my last time as the trains now also run direct from Amsterdam back to London which wasn't the case then.
Hope you have a lovely time!

I went last month (although I had to change trains at Brussels). The queues at St Pancras were very long and very slow - it took over an hour of queuing. I think it’s the newly onerous checks coupled with a reduction in staff and trains compared to pre-Covid times. I would advise arriving at least two hours before at the moment.

There is loads of good advice in the “Man in Seat 61” website and you can find out from him which seats are better and choose them via the app. Personally I keep checking and changing right up until the day of departure to make sure I get a quiet carriage. There are lots of loos on the train and they’re marked on the seating plan.

The app is very useful to have on your phone.

Anyone travelled recently with info on how long the queue is at weekends?

Poyyu23 · 25/06/2022 18:38

Travelled over May half term, long wait time. You need to allow 2 hours before departing. Worse on the way back. But great once on Eurostar.

Uh oh, thanks

I won't travel with them until they reopen Ebbsfleet
Sorry not much help to you op - not travelled with them for ages but always had a brilliant experience with then

Good luck. We went in May and there were horrendous queues in St Pancras and no information on what was happening. Delayed by an hour on the way there and the way back. Train itself is fine but loos are smelly.

Definitely buy your snacks and drinks before you go through security, there is absolutely nothing on the other side. Just a vending machine in the Amsterdam waiting room.

This is really useful to know. I've nearly just booked but will look into this more. Thanks.

They advised a 90 min check in time. It moves quickly though and both times we were through in 15 but was outside school holidays.

Loos were fine and in each carriage. Journey smooth, no stops unless you book a non direct journey. WiFi awful.

St Pancras has a Pret in the holding area but Amsterdam central has nothing. So stock up in the main stations before you check in.
