Eurocamp holiday. Anyone done with teens?

Just booked. Never been and not sure what to expect really. Got a mobile home. What should we bring? We won't have a car (flying and getting bus!). What activities come free or does it vary? How can we make the most of the holiday? What kind of things would you do in the day and evening? We don't have a lot of extra money to spend so looking for the free stuff please.

TIA!

It will depend on which campsite you're going to!

All of them having swimming pools but the other activities will vary hugely.

we used to drive so not sure about these suggestions - are your teens sporty? Ours used to play football (and make lots of friends, dont let them hang out in your mobile or u will get no peace), a badminton set which we put up on our pitch, and table tennis bats (there were usually free tables u could use). And tennis (which you had to pay for but was pretty cheap).

We used to swim a lot, read, BBQ and drink wine. Did it for quite a few years and loved it.

Thanks! It's one in Croatia but I think it has activities you mention dreamingofsun. Badminton gear is a good call as we have it and it's very light!

Bike hire is extra but nearly always a good idea, especially if you don’t have a car. It’s nice to venture into the local town for a mooch/evening meal/drink, and also some of the campsites are massive. Take your own bike locks (and helmets) if you can fit them in your suitcases!
Take large backpacks if you plan on doing a supermarket shop.

SkankingWombat · 06/05/2022 18:27

You'll need to research what is included on the site you've booked. We go to a Eurocamp site in France regularly that includes everything FOC except pedalo and bike hire. We tried a new one in 2020 on the way back to the port, and the pools, playground, and football pitch were the only free activities/facilities (plus the concrete table tennis tables mentioned by a PP if you'd brought your own bats and balls). Even the evening entertainment was extra - it came as quite a shock after our previous experience!

MerryMarigold · 06/05/2022 20:45

Thanks! Backpack for shopping is great idea. I'll try and check what's FOC. It didn't seem obvious.... So perhaps not a good sign. It's not specifically a Eurocamp though they do have spaces at this campsite. We're going with Canvas holidays but I've seen it on lots of camping websites.

There's a 'teens club' listed with no money sign next to it. Do you know the kind of things they do? Do you need to get up at crack of dawn to sign onto it? I'm sure things work a bit differently in different campsites, but in the end they probably have similar systems.

clubs used to be charged for (but you got a free pass with some of the camping companies) , but mine only went once as young kids and refused to go again other than for football. We always went to France, and this was some time ago - so things may have changed. Normally I hate entertainment as its usually crap, but some of the bands we saw were actually really good - people from the local town also came. we took a cricket/rounders set - this was a good way for the kids to make friends as we would set up and then others would join in too

MerryMarigold · 07/05/2022 12:22

Thank you.

Clubs are free and we've never had trouble getting spaces. The Eurocamp rep usually explains everything when you arrive.

mocktail · 08/05/2022 08:43

By the way as far as I know Eurocamp never have the whole site - they just have a certain number of.pitches on the site Smile

MerryMarigold · 08/05/2022 20:39

Thanks. Didn't know that. I just assumed the whole camp was theirs!

Duinrell, Holland is meant to be very good for teens. There's an onsite theme park!

MerryMarigold · 09/05/2022 16:15

I did look at that one but my idea of hell. I was looking for something we might all like so this one is in Croatia. I have beautiful beach, walks and weather! They get the activities (hopefully).

Croatia is beautiful, we stayed at Umag with Eurocamp in 2019. The main attraction for our teens was swimming and snorkelling in the sea. Its crystal clear and full of fish. Mske sure you take aqua shoes the coastline is very rocky. We went in August and it was super hot. We ve been on many many Eurocamp holidays clubs are free and the teen ones tend to be later in the day and evening activities

MerryMarigold · 09/05/2022 17:23

Ooooh yumscrum. That's the exact camp. Thanks for shoes and snorkel advice. Anything else to add? Pleeeease!!

There was big sports area, lots of organised football etc. The site has 5 or 6 bars, they are dotted around and all have a different feel. We loved one that had a real ramshackle feel with candles and daybeds. They all had live music too. Big inflatable thing in the sea at the main beach area. We did a boat trip to Rovinj. Take your swimwear every place you go has access to get in sea to cool off. Pula has a beautiful amphitheatre and lots of Roman architecture. Also a tiny McDonalds. You must go to Groznjan the "artists village" just beautiful. Novigrad a pretty small town nearby I think there were markets there. The site has around two miles of coast around it you can get in the sea anywhere. We did lots of evening swimming watching the sunset. Its fab!

MerryMarigold · 09/05/2022 19:43

Oooh thanks so much. Really excited. First hol since Covid (except a very wet, cold week in Wales last year!). We are staying in Pula for a few days at the end, so planning on checking out the Roman stuff. Boys will be playing endless footie, no doubt. We won't have a car so lots of bussing. Did you go to the water park? Does the campsite offer a trip?

yumscrumfatbum · 09/05/2022 19:46

No we didn't, we had a hire car so didn't look out for park organised outings. You'll love Croatia, I want to go back and do the other end Split etc.

MerryMarigold · 10/05/2022 15:25

We did Split and Plitvice (highly recommend) about 6/7 years ago. Kids still say it's their favorite holiday ever!
