Lego Land - is it good ?

hi everyone

i have loads of tesco vouchers to use up and legoland is an option.

anyone tried out legoland in the winter, or should I wait for spring/summer ?

my son is 3.5, loves playing with lego at home and is obsessed with cars and diggers, etc.

will he enjoy it ?

Yes I think its great for children that age, I think the only downside is that its expensive, but if you have vouchers then that solves that one.

Enjoy

thanks vixen, it is quite expensive but the vouchers cover 3 tickets. is it any good in the bad weather though ? i have read it has outdoor stuff, so may be wait until spring ?

Not open until March 15th anyway. It is pretty much all outdoors.

BritTex · 10/01/2008 16:01

I dont think it is open till March?

TsarChasm · 10/01/2008 16:02

Yes! Go out of term time though to avoid huge queues.

mamijacacalys · 10/01/2008 16:03

I would wait until the spring and avoid obviously busy days e.g. bank hols as the queuing time is huge.
We went on a weekday in August last year and DS (almost 5 at the time) loved it. He is quite tall though so could get on some rides most 4 or 5 yr olds would be too short for, so that is worth bearing in mind. However, there are plenty of smaller rides and the actual lego village/garden is magic. DD was only 14 mo when we went sowe intend to save the vouchers and wait until she's older before we go again, so that they can both get the most out of it.
HTH and enjoy your day!

PS tip for when you redeem your Tesco vouchers - make sure you get the specific ones for Legoland as they don't accept the 'general' Tesco Days Out vouchers (as I discovered and had the hassle of having to pay by credit card, then after our visit going back to Tesco to exchange vouchers then applying to Legoland for a refund).
HTH

It is perfect for your ds. ds(3.11) has been twice. My s-i-l has a season ticket from tesco and goes all the time. Her ds(3.5) loves it. There are acres and acres of rides. You could not do it all in a day. Then there is the lego bit itself. And the water-sprays bit - my ds particularly likes that.

kittylouise · 10/01/2008 16:09

I loved it. It is mostly outside though so would go in the warmer weather.

ChippyMinton · 10/01/2008 16:58

we have season tickets as it's nearby. Check out the height restrictions on the website as it can be disappointing if your DC takes a fancy to a ride they are too small for. Wait for the early summer, avoid school holidays and any day that might be an inset day (eg a friday or monday either side of a school holiday). Take a picnic, a buggy (it's a lot of walking otherwise), and swimming trunks and towel for the wet play area.

seasons tickets a good deal with the tesco clubcards.
we have passes for our six year old, rest were too young to need them. think we went 3 times over the summer and autumn? having them meant that we didn't do everything on each trip - makes for a much more pleasant day out.

AbbyMumsnet · 10/01/2008 17:05

Ahem, for all you people who have been, don't forget that we now have a theme parks section on reviews that could do with a bit of your attention

closethippie · 10/01/2008 17:55

thanks everyone, so helpful. will wait until spring then. my son is quite short for his age, so thanks for the tips about height ; )

Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to stay locally as we`ll be travelling to get there and would like to spend the whole day? two adults and 3 children. Thanks
