Can an 18 year old travel on child passport

Just occured to me that ds now 18 and ds 16 both just have child passports can they still travel on these
We are going to canary islands
Passports are valid until 2023

Sorry I posted about USA . I thought OP was going to USA, my bad. Though did see Simon Calder on news yesterday saying all this extra time required on passports was a myth.
