I am looking for a holiday for a family of five, all inclusive preferably Turkey.

i cannot believe how much the prices have gone up!

im wondering whether to get a last minute deal instead to get a bargain otherwise we aren't going anywhere!

So I'm personally not an all inclusive fan, I love eating out and wandering around town or along the beach finding nice bars and restaurants to sit down at. Way nicer than being tied to a few options at a big all inclusive resort. Plus most of them are owned by big foreign investors so a lot of your money is leaving the country. Since AI resorts are designed to keep you at the hotel all the time or to book daytrips through them, you're really contributing very little to the local economy.

Having said that, I have done all inclusive twice in my life and did it for cheap both times. One was an all inclusive resort in Diana Beach in Kenya, very beautiful white sand beach that stretches for miles, huge resort with multiple pools and restaurants for around £1400 a week for 2 people. You can go on safari a few hours from there too.

Second was a Caribbean cruise for 7 nights, paid approx 500 each for an interior room and then an extra 200 i think for the drinks package. Loads of restaurants and bars on board all included in the price. Visited 6 Caribbean islands too.

Of course, flights to these places are longer and likely more expensive but said I'd throw them out there as options anyway.

@shivawn it depends where you holiday... if you go to places like Jamaica and Dominican Republic its the norm to go AL. When you have kids.. I couldn't be bothered planning the money for each meal I think it's takes the joy out of the holiday I did DLP and I found that side of these tedious and the food was rubbish. It's different when its adults... you will eat your meal because your paying for it. I think parents want a waterpark and kids club too so this again knocks the prices up of the holiday entirely. Location comes into play too. So hotels are really too far put to be leaving the resort daily.

I don't think AIs are that cheap these days and end up confining you to the same place all the time as'youve paid' -- you would probably be better off budgeting £2500 on flights and an apartment and £2 k on eating out and drinks
