Anyone have a vibe on whether Italy will reduce restrictions in May?

I understand a review is due on April 30th? We have a holiday booked for May HT (for a week end May/beginning June) but I've only paid a small deposit so far, have the full amount to pay by something like 7th May which is great timing really given the announcement is due the week before.

I have two children aged 9 and 6 neither of whom are jabbed because they had covid JUST before they were eligible for the jabs and now can have them til later in June. I can't figure out NHS recovery certificates for this age group so think they will need tests every two days as it stands in Italy? Are they also requiring masks on the beach or is that old now? Will my 6 year old be asked to wear a mask? She has SEN (I have medical documentation if necessary) and can't wear one - is this accepted in Italy?

Basically if the review isn't favourable I think we will cancel but I'd love to go if anyone can reassure me?

We took ds11 to Italy a few weeks ago and we just had to get him a PCR before we went.

We're here in Italy now. Kids 8 & 11. Had to wear FFP2 masks on plane, but they haven't needed them apart from that. Going to a theme park tomorrow and the 'green pass' is no longer needed. Flew with EasyJet and there was no checking of vaccination status (us or kids).

Italy is hosting Eurovision in early May .... might lead them to relax some restrictions

The Italian govt has already announced that the Green Pass will be abolished from 1st May unless you're entering a medical facility.

This is making me very hopeful!

The announcement was made at the beginning of April and comes into effect on May 1st.
Children the age of yours have never had to wear a mask in the open btw, not even in 2020. Since February nobody has to wear a mask outside.
You may be asked to wear a mask on the plane.

Is that right about the announcement? I'm finding it hard to find accurate (English) info. DH and I perfectly happy to wear whichever type of mask is specified on the flight - it's whether the kids (esp Sen 6 year old) have to wear them that worries me

Definitely true Smile
I've just tried to find you the exact timetabling in English but can't but anyway:

1st May- GP abolished along with masks indoors unless in middle/senior schools/medical facilities.

You'd have to check with the airlines about the mask for your DD, but you'd be able to get an exemption letter I think?
I flew back to Italy last week and it was supposed to be ffp2 but a few people had surgical or even cloth and they weren't told to change them.

That's brilliant thanks. I'm sure the English translations will come closer to the official date but hearing that is very reassuring.

Yes no problem getting an exemption letter just I know a few countries that don't accept any exemptions so concerned about that

Children under 12 aren’t subject to the green pass rules, other than the antigen test (cheaper than pcr) required before arriving in Italy.
