I want to take advantage of the whole kids go free thing, but I don't know weather to book through disney and take advantage of the 15% extra off thing or do it all seperatly through cheap internet sites.

So does any one know:

Where the best place to stay would be for someone with 3 dc's all under 3 and 2 needing cots (and seperate rooms from the other one)for the cheapest price?

The best place to book for the cheapest deals on travel, rooms etc?

Anything I should know before I go there ( I know the weather will be crap) but what else do I need to know?

Wish I could help you more , as have been with dd aged 11mths, but that was ove 3 yrs ago.I dont remember who we booked with, although dh might.

We stayed at My Travellers explorer , which was a bus ride away. It was clean ,and vast, there was soft play ,a pub, a pool , cafe ,disney shop etc.

I know more about where to eat and how to do things in the park and planning your days there. I worked for Disney several years ago and went to the park during its build. We were trained at the time to know the park well for in store advise.

Be warned, (& I dont normally go around inducing panic and worry , just be aware) there were several thefts there in the restaurant on our 2nd morning , my bag and several others. When we got to the station , there someone with a room theft making a statement(from a Disney hotel).

Ive stayed at Davey Crokett, but found it a souless place and you need transport. Snow siuts for this time of year is recommended.

cestlavie · 09/01/2008 16:44

Gosh melsy - I worked at Disney during it's build too (1992 - jesus, was it that long ago???)

ChippyMinton · 09/01/2008 16:45

Hi Kneehigh!
Under-4's go free on the eurostar if they don't have a seat IIRC, so you might want to look at their site, but only take the DIRECT service, so no faffing about changing trains. I found it very straightforward (mine were 2,3 & 4 at the time).
Not sure about accommodation. We stayed at the Newport Bay in an admiral's floor room, which had two double beds. We declined a cot, pushed the bed against the wall and slept the 3 DC sideways, but yours maybe too young for this? Staying on-site was good, we could walk back the hotel for a rest or swim (or to eat McDonalds in comfort ), then return to the park later. Worth checking if the do family suites now? Hotel New York is nearer the action.
Check out the disboards for insider info.

Sorry, for original OP - it will be, or is likely to be, utterly freezing. It's in the middle of wide open farmland so the wind just cuts through you. If you're going to be standing around in queues (depending on age of kids) make sure you're all wrapped up incredibly warm and don't have to buy any of the over-expensive tat there in desperation.

Ditto food, try to eat out/ fill up outside of the park to minimise cost - food inside is very mediocre and incredibly expensive.

In terms of where to stay, try central Paris - you can get Citadines apartments in utterly gorgeous locations (e.g. just next to the Louvre). They have one bedroom apartments at reasonable prices (vs. other places esp. Disney hotels) - it's only 45 mins from central Paris to Disney on the RER.

Kneehighinnappies · 09/01/2008 17:03

We want to be very close to the park as I'm not sure how easy it will be getting around with a twin pram and toddler in tow with her push chair plus my huge changing bag (tis a military style operation taking my lot out).

khin - we are going in september mon-thurs staying in santa fe hotel at disney it is £388 for 4 of us (dd1 will be 4 (her bday present) and dd2 will be 21months) it includes breakfast and I booked it through another mnetter who is a travel agent on my postnatel thread (laughalot)doenst include eurostar as can only book 120days in advance but phoned them and he said tickets for adults plus dd1 will be around £160 return (as long as I book first available day they go on sale) we will be going from ashford direct to disney.

I am planning on taking some snacky stuff (cereal bars/crisps etc) with us but fill kids up at breakfast , lite lunch and we'll eat out in the evening.

Laughalot is normally around evening time and she knows quite a bit about disney so I can email her if you want me to

Kneehighinnappies · 09/01/2008 17:14

eandh That would be fantastic thanks
Or you could give her my email address: elana dot cooper at ntl world dot com.
Or point her in this direction, any would be a great help.
we would be looking at going in march, which is why I was looking at booking it now as the kids travel and stay for free and if you book before jan31 you get an extra 15% off (tight arse I know)

The best place for food is the shopping centre Val d'Europe , there is a great food court style place with restaurants of various countries. Good for getting away from the park for a bit. Some hotels offer a shuttle to and from it.

Staying right at the park is by far the easiest option logistically , but there will be a premium for that.

I can see if we have the costings from our previous trip somewere.

and yes as mentioned food is very exp in the park and really atrocious. Possibly though the buffet place at the end of main street , plaza gardens, restaurant guide will have more selection otherwise its hot dogs hot dogs oh and hot dogs !!! Although despite that we had a lovely birthday lunch for me and my neice in Auberge du cendrillon just to the right behind the castle.

Fimbo · 09/01/2008 17:19

We are going Feb half term. Monday to Friday, so 4 nights 5 days.

I booked the Dream Castle (through Expedia) which is outside the park boundary but has a free shuttle bus (someone might be able to advise if you can take prams on them).

Booked Eurostar (over the phone) as soon as the date was available for booking (couldn't do it on the net) and managed to get seats with a table.

Have just booked entrance tickets with 365.com

The whole lot came to just short of £1000

eandh · 09/01/2008 17:59

have linked this to our postnatel thread and text her she said she'll try and reply later

laughalot · 09/01/2008 19:18

Helllllllllooooooooooo

Right ill tell you as much as I know defo stay on site it will be much less hassle than getting up and going to the park everyday. I recommended the santa fe hotel to Eah its basic but its clean and it is the cheapest on site hotel. What is the point in spending alot of money on something when you just sleep in it ? You will be out all day. The room thing is a slight issue alot of the hotels are just one room and dont have seperate bedrooms however I guess they do have inter connecting rooms but that will bump your price up. The cheapest way to travel is by coach but not ideal with 3 kids under 3 so then eurostar is your next best deal, forget flying that totally bumps it up. I would price a package up try disney direct thats who I booked my friend through and always use them as they are always good prices. I would also price the accomadation on its own aswell and then ring eurostar to compare. It isnt cheap when your there but its loads of fun. If you would like me to find out the prices I can look tomorrow as im back at work its up to you. Good luck.

We went in Novemeber and stayed in the Disney hotel this time, but last time we stayed in the Cheyenne which was fine. I preferred to be in the complex but others like to get away in the evening.

The food in the parks is awful but we got up late and ate huge breakfasts, snacked on cereal bars/apples etc in the day and then ate an early dinner. We said dcs could have one food treat a day, crepe, or popcorn or whatever, so they didn't bother hassling constantly for stuff once they'd had their treat. You do see kids whining on at their parents and it really adds up if you're on a budget.

2beautifulgirls · 14/01/2008 19:32

i was looking at going to disney with my dc and found the best deal on ebay!!! Just type euro disney into search, then there is someone on there who book hotels and eurostar in bulk and therefore get it cheaper and pass savings onto yourself. Will have a look and see if i can find them and give you there user name.

swedishmum · 16/01/2008 00:08

We were there this weekend with 4 kids from 4 - 14 and in-laws. Stayed at Marriott Village 5 mins drive (or shuttle) away - they have 2/3 bed villas with 2 bathrooms plus downstairs loo (v nice) from £90 per night on the internet. Worked out much cheaper for a family.
My top hint? Have a cocktail at lunchtime!

moetandmilk · 16/01/2008 00:28

We went on New Years Day for 5 days staying at the Radisson which is 5-10 minutes shuttle. We had 2 rooms with 4 kids under 5 - good hotel - fab breakfast!!

We went with Iglu - I think considering we booked 2 days before we left it was a pretty reasonable.

Have fun!!!!!!
