Hotels that work for a family of five in Mexico

Has anyone stayed or have recommendations for all inclusive hotels in Mexico?
Husband has been talking to his mate who has been and he's decided it's the next place he wants to go.
Problem is there's five of us and a lot of the ones I've looked at show two rooms. Dh thinks as dd1 will be 17 by then she can stay in a separate room with dd2. I'm not happy with that idea at all and would much rather have interconnecting rooms.

Have you searched on TUI? Lots of choice for Mexico.

PotteringAlong · 18/04/2022 20:17

Your 17 year old will be fine in their own room! At 17 they could be in Mexico by themselves without you!

I have but most of them would mean two rooms.

That's what Dh just said! Smilemaybe I'm just a bit soft. I think I'd be ok if I could be 100% that they would be close by but they could be a fair distance away!

Paradisus La Esmerelda has them. Some of the junior suites have a bedroom with an adjoining room with a connecting door IYSWIM. I remember from when we were staying there, but I also found this: www.vacationkids.com/paradisus-la-esmeralda-rooms

I think you have to contact reservations directly to book though.

underneaththeash · 19/04/2022 20:20

I'm sorry, but that's daft - she's 17!

Daisy95 · 19/04/2022 20:40

Rui tequila we did two rooms and had connecting doors between them. Although when I was 17 I was off travelling by myself so I wouldn't worry too much.

Countdownis35 · 19/04/2022 20:46

Can you not just request two rooms next door to each other? I think if there's 2 sisters sharing they will be fine. I wouldn't want to share a room with my parents at 17.

All inclusive resort is really seeing Mexico though is it - you could be anywhere.

Claymorekick · 19/04/2022 22:45

We have booked 2 rooms in our hotel - notionally it will be 1 adult and 1 child in each but in reality, the 2 DC will share and me and DH will share. The DC will be 15 (turns 16 whilst we are there) and 13. The hotel has the option to prebook your rooms (at an additional cost) so I have booked adjacent rooms which come off a small hallway behind one door off the main corridor so effectively like a suite with 2 rooms.

Name changed but thank you for the responses. She's only 15 at the minute so I will probably feel differently next year.
Dh was so confused about why I didn't want it to happen but it seems I'm in the minority Grin
Thanks for the replies.

Most all inclusive resorts will have interconnecting rooms
just request them when you book
worst case you’ll get two rooms next to each other
find a resort you like and trip advisor or email the hotel directly to make sure they have interconnected rooms

They don’t lock you in! 😃. I stayed in an AI in Mexico with Dd and we hired a car and were off out and about all over the place. Went to loads of Mayan ruins, Coba, Tulum. Visited different cenotes, went swimming in the sea with turtles.

xcaret occidental is a great hotel.

We've recently returned from the Fives Beach in Playa del Carmen which I'm sure has multi-roomed apartments as well as standard hotel rooms. We also stayed in a room which had a shared foyer with another room so that could be an option?

I did have a look at that hotel. It looks beautiful.

GrinI did think that!! We want Mexico so we can explore when we want and relax when we want. We've done ai several times and always explore where we stay.

I've heard on MN about an apartment in Mexico that if you happen to be the neighbour of the owner, they will (without their knowledge) allow you to stay there, for at least 6 holidays!
😆😆😆

Grand Sirenis was perfect for us as a family of five.
Sofa bed in living room which we hardly had as a sofa as always out and about.
Upgraded to a swim up room when we got there as well. Gorgeous.

I do apologise we did not have a swim up room.
