Holidays
Flying and pregnant ! Need some advice
isitbedyet · 15/04/2022 11:13
Booked a holiday last year for the end of this year
Recently found out I'm pregnant and il be flying home when im 35 weeks pregnant
Anyone got any advice if I'd be able to fly or not or should I rearrange?
Never had complications in pregnancy before to indicate I will this time and always gone on around my due date (I know birth can come when ever it wants!) I just don't want to miss the holiday if we don't have to but I don't mind rearranging earlier or later

It's just 1 for sure haha and it's only a 2 hour flight at most, keep it short as we can for the kids ! X

What is the insurance cost? Depending on where you are going, it could be £££.
What is the airline you are using's policy on weeks pregnant to fly?
What is medical care like where you are going?
Not sure id do it, but I have several friends who have flown home to give birth, which usually means flying at just before 36 weeks, longhaul.

Depends on how your pregnancy goes.
I worked abroad from 28 to 35 weeks and flew home at 36.
I did get a fit to fly letter from the GP but they didn't ask me for it at the airport.

Check with the airline about when the latest you can fly is, just to be sure you'll be allowed on if they check!
Personally I'd try znd bring the holiday forward so you can enjoy in while not too pregnant, especially if its a warm destination

I'm with tui. It says you have to be home by 37 weeks basically so it wouldn't be an issue, we're right near a hospital as we've been here loads before end checked it out because of our other children (2 are poorly so this was a big essential!!) x

For a normal singleton pregnancy you can fly up to 36 weeks, so you should be OK especially as it is shorthaul.
You need good insurance, both for and also for the baby if s/he should be born and need a hospital stay whilst you are away (his type of coverage is available, but not all policies have it, so check)
Also, you will need a medical letter confirming his many weeks you are (so you can prove you are returning before the 45 week cut off). Check in plenty of time what your carrier requires, so you have time to arrange it.
