Baby's first passport delays

Hi everyone, Give me some hope please 😭🙏

I applied on the 17th of feb
Had delays in confirming identity 11th of March
Sent documents on the 15th of March
System updated received on the 29th of March
It was all sent to Peterborough

I'm booked for holiday on the 29th of April which I am pretty sure it will be cancelled now.
I'm so sad ... I just want an update on the application and have been calling them mornings afternoons and evenings but it gets cut off after 10 min.

So from your timeline, your application would have only really started once they'd had the identity confirmed and they're advising that an application can take up to 10 weeks at the moment.

I sent my 2 children's renewals off last week. One went to Glasgow and one to Peterborough, the Glasgow one has had the old passport marked as received today but nothing from Peterborough yet.
A workmate had hers back in 20 days last week but hers was sent to Liverpool.

So strange how each office has different time frames.
There should be some consistency with it all.

When I called last week, they said the start counting 10 weeks from the day we get a message saying documents received ... so it is very confusing..

I didn't have a call yesterday so waiting for one again today. Will try to be productive and pack for the rest of us. Poor kid.

No luck. Feel 99% sure it's written off and adjusting plans accordingly. She will get some quality grandma time and we will do more grown up activities as much as our 1 year old will allow. And then make it up to 6 year old with some super cheap weekend camping in the UK later this year if any to be had.

And hope grandpa makes more plans with us for the not too distant future. That's the worst part. He would have got a kick out of seeing how she'd changed and she could have got to know him better.

I'm sorry to hear this... what a terrible service honestly they promise to email back and to call back but they never do.
Your daughter is at least in good hands. My kids love to be with grandma so no harm leaving her with her :) I think she will have a lot of fun.

My trip is on Friday but we can't even rebook so that is gone..

I'm sorry that both your trips have been ruined. The passport office delays were on the news and twitter yesterday with Boris threatening to privatise the office if they don't sort out the delays (no doubt give the contract to one of his pals but that's another thread)

As said upthread, I applied for 2 last week. I've just had a message saying one of them has been approved and is being moved to the printing stage.
Not heard a word about the one that went to Peterborough though.

Mine is in Peterborough I think that is where most the delays are .. What makes me crazy is I received a message saying documents received a month ago. And then I get the same message 2 days ago. So it is a bit upsetting ... I don't know what is going on

This is how my application looks like.
The delay between the submission and the identity confirmation is on my side. I sent documents off 15th of March.. so that is 6 weeks ago

Hey OP. After three days of sitting by the phone I was just on the phone to the doc re. Baby (whole other story) and had a missed bloody call from Liverpool passport office!! But...he called back and I have paid and he's sending info to our closest one to be printed so I can pick it up there this afternoon! Don't give up hope, it might happen tomorrow for you! Keep an eye on your phone!!!!

Not really promise no, it was similar to you except more complicated than a first passport as was a lost and expired one. I have hope for your one!!! Now sitting on a station waiting for delayed train so not entirely out of woods yet! T

I am still hoping .. we fly on Friday from Copenhagen so we need to fly from London the day before.. supposed to be tomorrow so I know that we already missed everything.
Peterborough is the worse passport office so far. Everyone is complaining. They have had my documents for 6 weeks and a bit. My daughters dual nationality passport which is valid is with them. We could have flown with that one.. I'm actually so angry at them...

Also what makes me more upset is that they haven't even cared to answer any of my emails. They haven't been bothered to say we can't help you. At least I know i should give up hope.

Definitely looks promising. They're doing your application so as long as everything is ok they should approve it I'd imagine.

I got a text today that my sons passport has been printed and I'll get a message from the courier about delivery.
I applied exactly 10 days ago

Peterborough still haven't acknowledged receipt of documents for the other passport application though so I think you're right that they seem to have the most delays.

I misread and thought you were due to go next week but it's today isn't it.
It's appalling how long they're taking and if I were you I'd be sending a strongly worded email to my MP. It won't change things for you but the government need to know that the passport delays and lack of consistency across passport offices is not on and something needs to be sorted. So many people have had plans ruined 😕

Contact your MP with all the details. Worth a try?

They actually didn't notify it was processing I had to log in to see it.
I think Peterborough is such a pain honestly.
Anything from Peterborough on your side?
We managed to move the trip to 20th of may last night. But we couldn't make them delayed more. If we don't get the passport that would be it. In 20 days..
