Question about travel covid stuff for Italy

ENoeuf · 11/04/2022 10:19

Booked via Jet2holidays and all seems find so far, nice app to manage payments and info. How do I do the covid stuff - is it tricky? I think we all need a passenger location form and a covid vaccination declaration - how soon can I get these for august? Do we print them? Upload them somewhere? I’ve looked at the foreign office stuff and it’s a bit confusing.

PAFMO is correct.
I live in Italy and the SGP has been downgraded to a Green Pass base for turisti stranieri where a SGP is needed for us. Obviously, the SGP was mainly ormai for workplaces and hospitals anyway so fairly irrelevant for tourists.
You still need officially a GP base (or NHS pass or equivalent) for eating inside in a restaurant etc.

The legislation in that link has not changed.

Yes but there is an exemption for foreign tourists. www.tuscantrends.com/changes-in-italys-anti-covid-regulations-april-1-june-30-2022/

I have used this exemption to my advantage many times this month as obviously being English living in Italy, I can pass as a tourist.

We were in Italy last week, and, like many people, our vaccination records and PLF weren't checked before boarding or on arrival. FFP2 masks were mandatory on the plan. We did have our pass scanned for some restaurants but not all. Although in principle you need the Green Pass to travel on the train we were never checked (and my son who is living there says he has never been checked either).

This is really helpful. I’m so excited to be going back, just never had to deal with the paperwork before.

Can I just ask about the tests needed for unvaccinated children? If we take lateral flow can it just be a test we have or do we have to buy one and register the result somehow?

ENoeuf · 22/04/2022 18:12

I don’t know but bumping your question

I got back from Puglia on Monday night, the only place we were asked for our covid qr cert was at Bari airport for our return flight to Dublin. We were never asked for anything in restaurants, cafes or shops. Masks were worn everywhere indoors.

FFP2 masks were compulsory on the return flight. Our locator form wasn't looked for either.

It will be buy and register result with a cert.
But all likely to change soon.

I travelled with jet2. They did not check what mask you had. You don't need one to board or in the flight.

We have to put it on when you land. We had the FFP2 mask but the majority of the people on the flight did not have them.

You also don't need the green pass. The nhs one is fine.

ENoeuf · 24/04/2022 09:42

I looked up the green pass and apparently we are signed up to an agreement that the UK one will be sufficient. So I think it’s the pass and the travel locator we need

Yes, that's right.
Your NHS pass is your Green Pass like the Italian vax record generates ours.
And hopefully come next weekend you won't need it unless you're thinking of visiting someone in hospital (hopefully not!)

😂 no will be keeping the kids away hopefully! Can’t wait tbh we didn’t do Rome in the end (put off til next year) and did London so this is our first go at abroad since covid.

Came from Rome last week and the covid stuff was very lax. Filled in PLF online beforehand but it wasn't needed at any point. Only one waitress checked at a pizzeria but we went to the same restaurant many other times and weren't checked. There was one Green Pass check at the airport before security.

FFP2 masks are adhered to quite rigidly. You technically need one whenever walking around public areas in hotels and restaurants, including the breakfast buffet. About 80% of guests did so at breakfast, and 20% ignored the rules. You also need masks in taxis, public transports, the airport and planes. 100% of people on our flight kept the masks on, though we were flying within the EU where masks are mandatory almost everywhere as well.

honeyrider · 24/04/2022 15:20

One thing we were warned about before we travelled to Italy is once you land random people are selected from flights entering the country for antigen testing. We saw people mostly families selected from our flight for antigen testing. It doesn't matter if your are fully vaccinated and boosted or not.

Ontopofthesunset · 24/04/2022 15:27

Maybe it depends where you fly to. Have been in and out of Verona as has my son and never seen any sign of anyone being selected for antigen testing - indeed, no sign of any testing set up at all. Maybe it happens at the bigger airports.
