Argh! DS vaccinated too late for Belgium - WWYD?

We booked a 2020 holiday to Belgium that obviously didn't happen and so has been rolled over twice to this year. Now DS is 12 and got his first covid jab at the first possible appointment, 3 days after his birthday. He'll have his second vaccination 12 days before we go on holiday.

But... Belgium requires all children aged 12 and over to have completed their second vaccination at least 14 days before entry. We'll be off by 2 days!

Is there any chance that:

  • the GP will agree to him being vaccinated two days earlier than the full 12 week gap
  • no one will check anyway, as we're driving over the border rather than arriving by Eurostar or flight?

I can't see what difference two days would make tbh. Ask your GP as the first port of call.

Children can be vaccinated from 8 weeks if vulnerable so 2 days early should not be an issue.

Im in a similar situation, my child potentially did have time to have the second dose but then got covid shortly after the first so couldn't. But I think this paragraph means 12-17s are fine whatever if they’re travelling with fully vaccinated parents doesn’t it?

“Children and young people
Children under 12, even if not fully vaccinated, do not need to be tested either before departure or on arrival, but must follow the quarantine rules applicable to the adult with whom they are travelling. All children aged 12 to 17 need either a vaccination, recovery or negative test certificate. Unvaccinated children and young people under 18 and who do not have a recovery certificate can travel with their parent(s), guardian or other attendant without an Essential Travel Certificate, provided that the parent(s), guardian, or attendant is in possession of a vaccination or recovery certificate. In the case of an attendant, written travel consent by the parent or guardian is required. Children under 18 who travel alone or are not accompanied by parent(s) or guardian need an Essential Travel Certificate.“

The government website says between 12 and 17 they don't need to be vaccinated if travelling with parents.

I missed that completely! Amazing, thankyou!
