We are thinking of doing a combined holiday this summer to Seattle and San Francisco and I am looking for any advice on accomodation - my kids are 2 and 4 years so preferably self catering house/villa/flat. Has anyone got any good websites they can recommend? Or any tips in general? Thanks.

Hi Twirl,
This time last year we had our fab vacation to look forward to in the US. We toured for 4 weeks, starting off in San Fran. We stayed anything from 2 nights to 6 in one place, what exactly do you want to do?

Yes San Fran is chilly, but its worth a visit imo, we were there 26th July last year for 3 days, lovely in the day but chilly at night, but it was lovely, so much to see and do. Agree though about heading inland, our tour was fantastic
San Fran
Yosemite
Death Valley
LasVega
Williams(Grand Canyon)
Sedona
Palm Desert
Los Angeles(Disney)
Wish we had it all to look forward to this year!

Cheers guys
We actually want it to be coldish - we live East Coast and it is too hot for me in the summer so we are looking to escape the southern heat. Would love to head inland but kids don't tolerate driving too well and i;m guessing there will be alot of driving involved?. Can do about 2 hours but wont go in the car driving everyday (unfortunately for us!) Will probably go to Disney (Florida) when kids are a bit older. Hmmm, you have all got me thinking now.....(reaches for guide book). Triplets, where did you stay in San Fran?

Seattle is far further north than two hours from SF - you have to drive across the state of Oregon first. By air, its 678 miles from SF (so roughly a flight duration of around 2 1/2 hours).

Have been to SF in August and the weather was kind to us. It can get cold very quickly though when the fog comes inland. For a UK tourist at present the US is a good place to visit anyway because of the favourable exchange rate.

Twirl

You should also be aware that Disney start charging adult prices when the child is nine years of age!.

We would fly from San Fran to Seattle (kids love the plane and are used to long-haul so 21/2 hours is an easy flight.
KKM do you live in Seattle?

Twirl,
We stayed in the Columbus Motor Inn on Columbus Ave. It was brilliant, we had a 2 bed suite with fantastic views, we could even see Alcatraz! It has free private parking too, it does not do b/fast, but within a 5 mins walk there is a large supermarket, they`ll tell you the way, we bought a few bits and had a snack in the room, there is a table and chairs. It was an easy 7/8 min wealk to Fishermans Wharf and also a few mins from the cable cars. The staff were excellent and we paid £70 a night total, would highly recommend it. Just type in the name and you will get their website. Ask for the 2 bed room, its great vlaue.
