Paris - anyone know where to stay?

Hi,

I'm trying to pick an area to stay in Paris but getting so mixed up where to go Blush. It would be me, DH and late-teen DD so it doesn't need to be kid-friendly. We want to go to just relax and sightsee, don't want to go in any attractions or eat out much, it's just for us to chill out basically.

Somewhere with good bakeries/deli's/quirky shops would be amazing so we can book somewhere self catering, go out, buy some nice food, go for a picnic or go back to where we're staying and eat etc. Any suggestions?

Le Marais springs to mind. Lots of little shops and nice squares. Or St Germain close to Jardin du Luxembourg. Or off the Rue Mouffetard thegoodlifefrance.com/rue-mouffetard-the-oldest-street-in-paris/

Le Marais. Right in the centre. You have the place de Vosges for picnics (do visit the Victor Hugo house there; it’s free and simply stunning). Also the Canal Saint Martin nearby is also pretty cool area.

Cross the Seine by Bercy and head to La Felicità for lunch or dinner. It’s a super trendy food court with good eating options and the most Instagrammable loos ever that your teen will love.

The Marais is good. I'd also suggest Montmartre.

What’s your top budget, per night? We used to stay in a lovely little place in Montmartre, close to Abbesses metro, street-markets nearby for picnics, squillions of restos, cafés and bars at hand. Great breakfast place a short walk away. But there are loads of hotels around there.

Was going to say Le Marais also! I stayed at Hotel De Jobo and would highly recommend. Is quite quirky and fab location. I think it was a Mumsnet recommendation I received!

Following as we hope to go later this year.

Are you not planning on any sightseeing? Or am I misreading your post?

I like the Canal St Martin area - more of a local chilled vibe than the more touristy areas. And there are great bakeries. Try Du Pain Et Des Idees.

Also convenient for Eurostar.
