Where to look for "last minute" holidays

We're hoping to go away in around 3 months time , before schools break up, and thinking of trying to get something cheaper nearer the time as we're not set on anywhere in particular as long as it's sunny!

Back in the day you used to be able to walk into a travel agent and ask what was available the following week or whatever but presumably there are websites you can check nowadays.

Any suggestions or recommendations please

I usually book flights and accommodation myself, but got a great last minute package deal with this website in 2019.

Yes we normally book flights and accommodation separately ourselves too hence being unsure about booking it as one last minute deal.

Thank you, I'll take a look.

Watching with interest just recovered from the lurgy and not been abroad since summer 2019. Teen DD is actually wanting to go away somewhere with me anywhere for three or four days and struggling to find anything cheap that looks ok. Also we live in the very north so would be looking to fly from Scotland or NE and all the bargains seem to be from London. Have had a good search but when you don’t know where you want to go other than probably want to avoid anywhere to close to Russia/Ukraine its hard to find anywhere and some holidays seem cheap but then have lots of hidden costs.

I would keep an eye on lastminute.com, or track it for a few days for a dummy date in the near future. I booked a hotel the day before the stay (thanks Covid!) and it dropped in price from me spotting it in the morning to booking it in the evening. I also booked it as a "secret hotel" but could work exactly which hotel it was from the description and the photos matched the ones on the named hotel listing! So that saved £100 over 2 nights too.

@emmathedilemma ah yes I've heard about "secret hotels" and the fact you can often work it out.

Sounds like you had a real bargain there.

We used to book independently, but had financial losses when flights were cancelled but not hotels, & vice versa.
Now, we either look for ready-made packages, or use a travel agent to put together a tailor-made holiday. Both options mean we're fully covered for cancellation.

I had one of those MN adverts come up from somewhere called www.cheekytrip.com. I have never used them and no idea if they are reliable but they were advertising holidays from £80 pp per week (this was for end of April). You could see exactly what the accommodation was so you would have opportunity to google for further info eg on where it was in resort or reviews.
