Anyone flying/flown with Easyjet from Luton this week?

Wondering if anyone has flown or is due to fly with Easyjet this week from Luton and experienced any problems/delays etc? Is it really as bad as the media are reporting?

Supposed to be flying from there with Easyjet on Sunday and getting increasingly concerned about possible delays, security queues etc. Looking at flights due to go today it seems there is already an issue with delays and possibly no refreshments during the flight. I'm an anxious flyer and am travelling solo this trip so just looking to prepare myself as much as possible.

I flew from Luton with easyJet yesterday. It was fine. The queue for security kept moving (took us about 30 minutes though). The plane took off on time. There were refreshments on board. We're flying back into Luton this evening and got an email saying there might not be any refreshments but I'm not bothered about that.

Two weeks ago landed in Luton. Passport control queues were awful for most passengers but uk citizens queue moved very fast. No taxis so pre book if you want one. Bags were quick.

Most people buy food in departures don’t they? So don’t worry about that just stock up before you get on the plane

Thanks for that @RishiRich 30 minutes for security doesn't sound too horrendous. Probably not that different to height of summer holidays queue. It's only the second time I have flown during the pandemic and I was getting worked up about large groups of people stuck in queues for hours. I have carry-on only so one less queue to deal with too!

The inflight refreshment thing: I know it's not great but I tend to have a glass of wine to take the edge off my nerves. If I'm prepared to have to do without then I can make it work. My being able to cope is all about being mentally prepared.

Sorry to hijack but is Luton generally OK?

We are 10 minutes from Manchester Airport but I hated it long before Covid. Disorganised and money-grabbing.

Last time we flew Edinburgh was our only option and it was so much more organised than Manchester.

We have the option to fly from either Manchester or Luton this year, and we are very tempted to choose Luton despite the drive.

Any thoughts??

Luton makes you pay for everything: luggage trolleys, drop-off space, luggage scales... They used to charge for clear plastic bags too, although I noticed they'd stopped this time. It is organised and much nicer than it used to be though. I haven't flown through Manchester but Luton is million times better than Stansted of you've ever had the misfortune to fly in/out of there.

Blimey, charging for the clear plastic bags!

Don't tell Manchester Airport or they'll start.

They too charge for dropping off, trolleys etc. £100 fine for dropping people off in the surrounding roads too. I'm sure security was deliberately chaotic so that everyone would spend a tenner on fast track.

There is a much greater choice of flights from Luton (cheaper too, even with parking and hotel pre flight) so we'll give it a go. Thank you!

Luton has just been refurbished so it’s quite swish inside. It’s chaos outside though as they are building a new rail link and you can queue in a car/taxi to get dropped off.
