British Airways Cancellation Chaos

Keep seeing about all the BA flights cancelled, it sounds like chaos. We are booked for a very big special package holiday with them in summer...do we cut our losses and cancel now? If they can't pull it off at Easter, there's not much hope for Summer is there?

@bert3400

We have a flight from Madrid to Heathrow on Friday, we booked through BA but we are flying Iberian ....we need to get to Heathrow for a flight to the Maldives, Friday night.....Im hoping Iberian aren't involved in the cancellation chaos
I think BA are generally trying to cancel/rejig 7 days ahead so you might be in the clear, fingers crossed. I haven't heard of any manpower problems with Iberia but haven't looked at what is going on there in any detail.

If you have a look at ba.com and look ahead at flight status MAD-LHR for Friday 15th you can see all the planned BA and Iberia services (because of the codeshare). it's look ATM as if the only cancellation is the BA operated BA0459 that operates middle of the day, no other cancellations showing (yet).

Good Luck

Should have added that on the BA page for MAD departures the 7XXX series flight numbers are actually Iberia operated flights...

@notimagain

Thank you for the info. Seems to be OK for now but obviously will keep checking. Somehow we will get to Heathrow....not missing our trip of a lifetime 😊

We travelled from LHR to New York earlier this week with BA and there were no issues other than waiting for a ground crew to push us back at the gate which meant we set off slightly late - we made up the time in the air so arrived into JFK on time. The delay was caused by a ground crew shortage at LHR rather than by BA. We have a BA holiday booked for the summer and I am not concerned. There were the same horror stories in the Mail last summer but we passed through LHR T5 with no problems whatsoever both on our way and on our return from Malta.
