Travelling to Australia 20 weeks Pregnant

Hi Everyone,
I am supposed to be going to Australia in April for 2 weeks. All being well i should be 20 weeks pregnant by then.

It is for a wedding so i can't really move it forward or bring it back.
I can't decide if i am being really silly to risk it or not, i could just not go. I am nervous about having problems either on the flight or whilst away.

We had planned to do a bit of travelling whilst there, Melb, sydney and somewhere a bit more chilled.
My DP is swaying towards not (but then it is with my family so who can blame him )

We were planning on flying direct and being there for a total of 2 weeks, plus travelling days. Could include stop overs if we wanted to make it all a bit easier.

Would you go???

Decide for me!!!

My sil flew to australia at 28 weeks no problem. A friend did same at about 20 weeks too. Go for it!

Have also flown long haul (22 hours) at 20 weeks. Take a few snacks (like cereal bars) in case there is something you can't eat in meal. Also Colic Medicine is good as the cabin pressure can increase stomach gas, and with you tum a bit more restricted in space, can get a bit sore. Get an aisle seat.

I flew direct, we reckon better to just get where you're going.

Have fun - buy yourself a few new clothes for after baby born.

Make the most of being able to travel. Go for it!

Book an aisle seat for easy access to the toilets - drink lots of water to make sure that you stay hydrated - and consider the stopover if it makes life a bit easier.

I would do it, but ultimately you have to make the decision that works for you and you feel most comfortable with. Just remember it will be harder to travel once you have the baby (though far from impossible). If you do go have a great time and bring back lots of great memories (make time for just your dh and yourself in between all the family stuff). Best wishes

Hi Stickybean we're planning a trip to Japan and Oz in April and I will be about 20 weeks, too. I'm from Melb and have done the flight lots of times, but never pg. Would recommend BA/Qantas - once had a medical prob on the plane and the crew couldn't have been better. So will be flying with them again this time. Book in online as soon as it opens (24 hours in advance) and try for a bulkhead or exit seat - much more comfy.

if you have to go straight back to work when you get back to UK, would recommend a stop over as the jet lag can be a killer and can imagine it's only going to be worse when pg.

Have a fun trip, it's a great country.

Hi all,

Little update...
Booked it this week. Flying direct, aisle seat reserved. BA/Quantas flights
Flying back with a 4 day stop over in Hong Kong.

I think thats everyone's advice taken into account.
I am seriously considering travelling in my PJs!

Beck 74 maybe i'll see you on the plane I'll be the one with the big round tummy!!! (i think?? Don't have it yet though!)

Thank you all for your help.
