Hello , I checked Spain’s entry requirements and they said I need 3 months on my passport, I have gone to check in and they Ryan air are asking me to tick a box saying I have 6 months , if I do then I will be lying

I want to fly on 1st April 2022 and fly back on 8th April 2022 my passport expires 17th September 2022 ( issued 17th September 2012)

I have looked into making an appointment to get a new passport but there are non abvaible until the 4th April

Can you just show up at the passport office now ?

Very stressed got two little boys very excited for this holiday which has already been cancelled twice !

Will Ryan air stop me flying? I will ring Ryan air tomorrow, no one is answering either on the chatbot or phone right now

Thank you

If it is just your passport, check this:

www.gov.uk/get-a-passport-urgently

I would not chance it with Ryanair. However, as I never fly with them and only know about them from someone who worked at Stansted, I cannot say this for 100% certainty.

Jeheffna79 · 28/03/2022 17:07

There’s no urgent appointments for passport until next week which is too late

Is this helpful?

You need 6 months with Ryanair...I would never risk it with them

Jeheffna79 · 28/03/2022 17:32

Are there other airlines that don’t enforce the 6 months?

Ryanairs website says 3 months

piscis · 28/03/2022 17:40

There are definitely other airlines that don't enforce that. My DD flew for Christmas with 3 months on it. It was not Ryanair, I believe it was EasyJet but I don't remember 100%.

SarahMused · 28/03/2022 17:41

Everywhere I can see says three months validity left on the day you fly home. Even Ryanair say so. You should be fine. Screenshot the relevant pages from gov and Ryanair websites and turn up.

ArialAnna · 28/03/2022 17:42

What happens if you don't select that box? Can you not check in?

Personally in your circumstance I would tick the box and check in. If anyone challenges you at the airport (unlikely), I'd reply that I assumed there was a mistake on the website, as Spain accepts 3 months on your passport. I would also tell them I tried to ring, but couldn't get through. There is no legal reason why you can't fly so I'd be amazed if they stop you.

I rang Ryanair since I posted
I copied and pasted that first comment I was cooking tea sorry
Basically the first person i spoke to said it Woudl be ok then I asked for written confirmation and they said I woudl need to go on live chat and I did s they said no
I went to Leeds Bradford airport ( not where I am
Flying from but close to home ) and spoke to swissport Ryanair’s representatives there , they said it will be ok but coudlnt give written confirmation as not Ryan air staff
Rang Ryanair again this customer rep said u definitely won’t be able to travel
Feeling confused with no definite answer
I have searched Ryan air passport in the search bar on here and found some posts from October where people managed to fly out but also have seen one where someone was turned away

Also check the issue date of your passport as that what they look at not the expiry date

dementedpixie · 28/03/2022 17:49

Ryanair's own website says 3 months

Annoy · 28/03/2022 18:02

Just screen shot where it says it’s okay on their website

www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements

You need this

Passport validity
If you are planning to travel to an EU country (except Ireland), or Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or Vatican City, you must meet the Schengen areaa_ rules.
Your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
• less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
• valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
We are asking the European Commission to clarify the 10-year rule. Their guidance for Schengen border guards may not be updated until the spring of 2022. Until then, for some Schengen countries your passport may need to be less than 10 years old during your whole visit, and the 3 months at the end of your visit may need to be within 10 years of your passport’s issue date.
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.
Contact your travel provider or embassy of the country you are visitingg if you think that your passport does not meet both these requirements. Renew your passportt if you need to.

Jeheffna79 · 28/03/2022 18:23

I can’t get an appointment to renew my passport in time
I meet the criteria above but Ryan air are saying they have their own terms and conditions and they won’t let u fly with out 6 months
I have spoken to 2 customer service reps
One was nice and siad it Woudl be ok they Woudl follow the destination country rules the other one said I would 100 per cent not be able to fly

do the online check in and see what happens...if you dont click the 6 month box....ryanair can be hit and miss....often depends who you get to talk to....you need it in writing to be sure about this.

dementedpixie · 28/03/2022 18:40

Can you click on their link and post it so we can read it?

Jeheffna79 · 28/03/2022 18:59

Here’s the box

I live in Leeds and am flying from Birmingham and I have just driven to Manchester airport 😂😂 I went to Ryan air departures and spoke to two team leaders
I explained my situation and they both said it’s fine to fly with 5 months you only need 3 despite what the live chat people told me . They said I don’t need anything in writing it’s all fine and assured me it happens every day
So fingers crossed that everyone at Ryan air is as nice in Birmingham.

Was this ok? I have a similar situation. 5 and 1/2 months left and fly to France with Ryanair on Friday.

starshipenterprise5 · 09/04/2022 11:36

Has anyone on this thread managed to fly with Ryanair with less than 6m on passport? Have just been told a definite No by Ryanair customer service and due to fly tomorrow

BellaRoon · 09/04/2022 12:31

Yes. I flew yesterday. No problems at all and less than 6 months on my passport. The woman on the gate looked for a while at my passport but didn’t say anything. I think they are following the 3 months as per EU regulations now 😊

starshipenterprise5 · 09/04/2022 14:35

Update, husband just went to airport and spoke to Ryanair guy who double-checked and said 3m for Spain will be no problem at all!
