Hi as we the title says really. Looking to book (no boosters) everything seems quite pricey in terms of Egypt, Dubai , Dom rep etc but we were thinking Morocco? Anyone been recently 2 kids age 8 and 6 and any recommendations!

Went to Marrakech for our 50th birthdays in October 2019, loved it, very little harassment. DD has a friend living there at the moment.

Need a PCR for both Morroco and Cyprus. What about Canaries or Portugal

User1234567891011121314 · 26/03/2022 11:47

Hi @Theonlyoneiknow you need boosters for canaries which we don't have and Portugal Madeira is a tad cold. We want to be able to get at least 24 to use the pools....Antalya is 22 and kid friendly and cheaper than say Egypt... We don't mind budgeting in for the PCRs

Hi, was it not in the news this week that Canaries have dropped all restrictions? I was hoping so!

Omg really @Theonlyoneiknow? Let me investigate....

No it's as I thought they have changed it to certificate of COVID recovery (which we stupidly did not register at the time!) Or fully vaxxed within 270 days...

Oh darn!!! That's me scuppered! Keep us posted with you get on, We would be leaving next weekend so I need to hurry up :-)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/03/2022 12:45

I imagine they will drop that requirement eventually or do something else if the U.K. isn't going to give any more boosters.

I’d do Marrakesh OP, I’ve not long booked so I know how much cheaper Morocco was from when I was looking. The weather should be good, I went mid May once and it was 38 degrees! The staff said it was unusual but I would still expect good weather and at least if you have a bad day you have some really wonderful things to go and see or do.

We’ve stayed in the riu Tikida palmeraie before which is a resort style all inclusive and it was great as you felt like you were away from everything but only 10 minutes from the medina. I probably wouldn’t recommend it for kids but I’m sure you could find something with a similar feeling.

Theonlyoneiknow · 26/03/2022 13:01

Morocco is also on my possible destination list for next Week OP but was unsure... kids love beach and water park and we love sports and good food!

I've been a few times and found Moroccan men to be polite and non hassle unlike Tunisia and Turkey.

Nix32 · 27/03/2022 20:34

We went to a brilliant all inclusive water park resort 3 years ago. It was just outside Marrakech and we did a trip into the souk, a trip to an amazing waterfall in the mountains and a camel riding experience. Kids were 11 and 8 and absolutely loved it.

Lineofconcepcion · 27/03/2022 20:37

We did a road trip from Tangier to Fez, Casablanca, Riz Valley, Marrakesh, plus a few other places. We were two couples, one blond, one light brown, absolutely no hassle, fabulous people, loved it there. Travelled to Tangier a lot and not a holiday destination. Have you looked at Ceuta which is a Spanish enclave on the north African coast. It is lovely there, sailed there quite a few times on my boat from Gib.

Theonlyoneiknow · 27/03/2022 20:38

Lol yes we have a week off and no idea what to do! UK forecast looks dire!

User1234567891011121314 · 28/03/2022 21:03

Hi @Theonlyoneiknow have you managed to book anywhere ? I've gone from Morocco, to Turkey, to cyprus, back to Morocco , Egypt and then Butlins Shock really CBA now but we thought no point all the faff with testing etc to 20 degrees and possibly cloudy and kids can't enjoy the pool?

Marrakesh in the summer is very very hot and a 3-4 hour drive to a beach.

Theonlyoneiknow · 28/03/2022 23:01

LOL, not yet ! TBH if forecast was better in UK would go to Aviemore or NW Scotland but it looks awful! We have narrowed it down to Portgual or Norway. Problem is DH and I are as indecisive as each other! We would actually also do Iceland but flights are too expensive..... 5 days and counting :-) Portgual is only really a contender as we can fly direct without a 2.5hr drive to the next airport option (Glasgow!)

User1234567891011121314 · 29/03/2022 07:12

@ShrigleyForty yes it can be hot in the summer but we aren't planning to go then planning on Easter holidays coming up, as I was interested who has been recently i.e. since they opened up the borders to the UK only a month ago or so. It doesn't say anywhere either online (and in researched and searched about having the booster requirement either only a random article) but on the government website says double vaxxed (no expiry) and negative pcrs. It's hot there 25 degrees which is ideal!

@Theonlyoneiknow oh lord ok Norway is interesting! What is the weather like there this weekend ? How long will you go for ? Portugal I've never been so would love to check it out!

@User1234567891011121314 we are in Austria! Booked it 36hrs before flight departure. Madness but made it. Never asked for any covid paperwork at any point (despite Gov saying needed negative tests which we had done)

User1234567891011121314 · 02/04/2022 20:27

Oh wow I was just thinking about you and where you have flown to @Theonlyoneiknow!!!!! Have the best time love 💖
