Tenerife in May with two under 5s

Hi
We used to travel quite a lot, but I'm feeling very nervous about our holiday to Tenerife in May with two small kids after 2 years of no travel! Our oldest is 4 and youngest is 18 months. We're staying in a lovely hotel but have budget flights booked. Youngest is allergic to dairy which adds a bit of complication and we're all extremely fair/ginger so Sun protection will be a faff.

Never been to Tenerife so I'd really appreciate any tips - for example I assume there will be no car seats so I might be better off renting a car than taxis for day trips? I can't work out what we need to do for COVID either!

Take a pop up beach tent if you plan on spending a lot of time at the beach.
If you tire out your 4yo early in the day, you may be able to schedule a nap back at the hotel room in the early afternoon when the sun is strongest. An early afternoon nap also increases your chances of being able to stay out later at a restaurant, and potentially will mean you don’t have to sit quietly in a darkened hotel room for hours every evening after their bedtime!
Take nappy bags - that was the only thing we couldn’t find out there!

We've taken our young children a few times in may. Tenerife is lovely at that time of year.

Sun- it should be warm but not sweltering- I bought a great spray sun cream in a 50 for the kids last time that made applying easier- and I always take rash tops for the pool so they are covered.

Car seat- the taxis we booked had car seats as did the transfer from the airport we booked - we just asked the hotel to check for us.

There's lots to do- I really recommend Siam water park lots of fun for kids to play- even the smaller ones can play with the water squirters and things.

For the flight we always get the kids 'keep em quiet' bags- they are bags full of activities tailored to their age- they kill a bit of time when flying.

The supermarkets are good- well stocked and lots of different foods available if you need.

Have a lovely holiday!

take a cheap stroller to get you thru the airport, use to snooze on the beach and in restaurants, there are palm trees so you can always find shade. 'sin lactosa' products easy to find, loads of soya, ice lollies, buy a bucket and spade and a toy JCB and enjoy!

Go to Monkey Park! Despite its name, the best bit of monkey park is not the monkeys but the Guinea pigs which you can feed and cuddle

Take a couple of warmer layers. We went to Tenerife in July, when DS was 3 months old. Considering that it has a reputation of being warm all year round, the wind was freezing and we hadn't packed according.
I assume you'll be taking a buggy? Take the rain cover to act as protection from the sand. The wind was so strong that it was like a sand storm walking around.
