US covid test requirements

Anyone been to the US recently? Am only stopping there in transit but I apparently still need a covid test. It can be a lateral flow but needs to be one where you do it live on video so a doctor can watch and make sure you’ve done it correctly. Unfortunately these are obviously more expensive than normal home test lateral flows.

My question is, how do they know you’ve done one with a video or not when you present your negative test certificate? The info I’ve read about what needs to be on the test result certificate mentions nothing about a video. Surely the certificate will just say your name, DOB, date, testing company etc?

I think you get an accredited fit to fly letter.

Yes the certificate I got says on it about it being video supervised and certified to CDC guidelines or similar. They would definitely know if you didn’t get it supervised on video.

Ok thank you @Littlemissweepy. Can I ask what company you used?

Sorry if this is too late to be useful, but it was Qured.

Can anyone recommend a supervised lateral flow test they used? I’m due to travel to the US at the start of April. I’ve seen tests offered by Testing for All, who I have used for Day 2 tests in the past & found good. Virgin recommend Project Screen by Prenetics. Has anyone used either of these, or has a recommendation? Just a bit nervous about the supervised aspect, in case of problems. I’ve used at-home tests before for travel, but only ever had to upload photos of results.

I’ll be flying with BA so I assume I’ll have to deal with VeriFLY, so tips appreciated!

This is from BAs website

Am going to use Randox in clinic.

Verifly is optional to use; its basically a checklist and its not without its user interface problems. Would not bother with VeriFLY at least until DAON (the third party company who actually provided BA and other airlines with this software) sort their software issues out, it was rushed out and it shows.

I know this isn't what you asked (and I'm sure you are on the ball) but have you sorted your ESTA?

Even if you are only "in transit" it is a requirement.

My sister had to delay her holiday to another country as she hadn't realised that she needed an ESTA.
