My DS (16) won’t have his second covid vaccine. His choice, nothing I can do. So what/where are my options ?

Etinoxaurus · 19/03/2022 08:52

Leave him at home.

GeneLovesJezebel · 19/03/2022 08:52

No, I won’t be doing that.

USA.

Cyprus. A unvaccinated friend has booked there.

parietal · 19/03/2022 08:54

No where until he gets vaccinated. He can learn that his choices will restrict where he can travel

Totally.

www.kayak.co.uk/travel-restrictions there's an interactive colour coded map that shows different levels of restrictions. But keep in mind that rules change and he might not be able to get travel insurance to cover a COVID infection

FAQs · 19/03/2022 08:56

There is a list here, although they have also included Ukraine! It’s a fairly recent list www.thetimes.co.uk/travel/advice/where-can-i-travel-without-a-vaccine

No travel restrictions for Ireland

GeneLovesJezebel · 19/03/2022 09:00

@theDudesmummy

No travel restrictions for Ireland
I believe that the west coast is stunning, always wanted to go.

The US only has vaccine requirements for the over 18s
Italy now has vaccine or test (as I think others do)

BigSandyBalls2015 · 19/03/2022 09:00

Greece. Just need a negative test beforehand.

I think it's going to be difficult to know for sure as there seems to be another surge in cases as the moment so some countries that have eased restrictions could put them back in or cases could drop a lot by summer and more countries will drop restrictions. Can you leave it until last minute to book something?

I think France recently changed its rules so that under 18s can travel unvaccinated so long as they are accompanied by fully-vaccinated adults and they have just removed the need to show COVID passports at restaurants etc, but there's no guarantee they won't introduce it as some point.

theDudesmummy · 19/03/2022 09:08

@GeneLovesJezebel that's where I live, and yes, it is stunning.

This is a helpful list from Tui

Remmy123 · 20/03/2022 06:59

He can go most places but may need to test.

Spain he needs a test for example. That's easy enough.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/03/2022 07:19

I didn’t think spain would accept a test from those coming from UK?

nomistake · 20/03/2022 07:25

You can go to most places with a negative test (but not spain @Remmy123). Greece/Turkey?

Those saying he shouldn't go anywhere unless vaccinated- why is the vaccine more reliable than a negative test, when the vaccine hasn't done much for reducing transmission? At least with a negative test you know you're not spreading anything.

Remmy123 · 20/03/2022 13:57

@nomistake

See below re Spain:

Travellers from the UK aged 12 to 17 inclusive can enter Spain by presenting documentation certifying that they have undertaken a COVID-19 nucleic acid amplification test - NAAT (PCR or similar) within 72 hours prior to arrival in Spain. Antigen tests are not accepted.

Remmy123 · 20/03/2022 13:58

Think it's changed in last few weeks

SummaLuvin · 20/03/2022 15:21

According to this Telegraph article UK, Norway, Iceland, Romania, Hungary, and Ireland are the only 6 countries that are currently covid rule free entirely.

Notarealmum · 21/03/2022 10:39

The thing about testing is - what if he tests positive??

Quartz2208 · 21/03/2022 10:45

They move your holiday - the US has testing across the board as do other countries regardless of vaccination status

bellamountain · 21/03/2022 14:39

Portugal probably your best option.
