So we're going to Toronto for work in April and extending our trip by 5 days for a short holiday but don't know where to go or what to see. Happy to hire a car / go by train but don't want to drive all day. We have 2 teen DDs. Will be in Toronto for work so will see the city then, so looking to go away / into the country side or other city. Happy to book hotels / air bnb - just have to back in Toronto at the end to fly out. We love walking, mooching around shops, cafes Etc.

Does anyone have advice or tips on is good to visit pls?

Algonquin national park. We spent 2 nights there on a short trip to Toronto. Much preferred it to Toronto if honest !

I love Toronto, China town is fab, CN Tower, SKY dome, see a show, visit Niagara Falls, Clifton hill amusements, Niagara on the Lake, vineyards, outlet shops etc. Great holiday, you will love it, enjoy.

Have you been to Niagara Falls before? The Canadian side is lovely if you haven't and it's an easy drive from Toronto

Brilliant ideas thanks Smile. I went once for work to Toronto 20 years ago(!) and went to Niagara Falls so might not go back there but depends if DDs are keen to go. I'll check these suggestions out Smile

I love Toronto. I went last year in October and really enjoyed it. I loved Casa Loma, really elegant house. Niagara Falls isn’t far either so maybe consider that. CN Tower is a must do even though I despise heights! Toronto Islands is a nice place to spend an afternoon and take a picnic with you and relax.

If you’re looking for places to stay, I stayed in St Regis Toronto which was a really fabulous hotel and found no faults of the room. Would highly recommend that.

For food, I would recommend PAI if you love Thai food. They managed to squeeze us in without a reservation even though there was a massive queue and could see why it was so popular once the food arrived! Gorgeous. Enjoy Toronto! The weather for me was absolutely gorgeous for October and I would love to go back.

Oh nearly forgot to mention! DH & I had a mooch around Distillery Quarter which is completely pedestrianized with some cool bars, restaurants, shops and ice cream eateries!

A few options to expore in no particular order.

1 - Blue Mountain and Collingwood

2 - Bruce Peninsula area

3 - Caledon villages and the Badlands

4 - Prince Edward County - Picton / Wellington area (beaches, villages, shops, vineyards)

5 - Cambridge or Cobourg - small cities with lots of shops cafes etc.
