Proof of covid recovery

Hi,

We've all got covid here! Supposed to be going to Italy at Easter. We're all double vax and the twins are 4. Our son is 7 though and apparently needs proof he's had covid?! Been around and around the internet but can't seem to find where I would get this.

Thanks

Did you give him a PCR test?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 10/03/2022 13:57

These are the current requirements (information taken from the UK's Foreign Office travel website)

No but I can get him one tomorrow. It's just not clear where I would get the certificate from? Is it from a private company?!

I think once he’s had a PCR that’s positive you can ring 119 and they’ll give you the certificate.

Yes I've seen this, but it seems that children over 6 are treated as adults, but the UK doesn't do this so they don't have access to NHS app until they're 12. So I'm not sure how I prove it other than showing his PCR results...

Mine just automatically appeared on the NHS app. I went to covid passes and travel and all my certificates were there plus one for natural recovery

SmallElephants · 10/03/2022 16:30

Following! Found out too late that if we’d had pcr tests done for the kids when they had covid (instead of obediently following the guidance and just using lfts) we might now be able to use recovery certificates for travel. So annoyed!
I didn’t think antibody tests were accepted? Will google.

Yes but he's not got a covid pass or app because he's too young

You'll properly have to pay for a private covid recovery certificate. Have a google-loads available and some will accept LFT results if registered and you received an email/text.

DamnUserName21 · 10/03/2022 17:54

PS Some GPs might give a letter (may charge and depends on GP) saying child had covid but only if PCR is positive and logged in their system.

Pinotwoman82 · 10/03/2022 19:53

Following , we have covid now and wasn’t going to get PCRs but having read a few posts realised we needed to, got them today. We go away in may half term, does anyone know who we get these recovery certificates?

JazzyBBG · 10/03/2022 23:49

Am in similar position. As far as I can see you can only have proof if PCR for kids.

Try Mayfield Clinic online, we got ours there.

Mozartinmyfanjo · 12/03/2022 19:47

We are in the same boat, DC had covid in January, confirmed with PCR. From what l found during search, if you and child under 12 are at the same surgery, you can ask them to allow you access by proxy and then link account via one app and be able to show recovery certificate. I am going to give it a go next week. Failing that, it will have to be LFT.

Abraxan · 12/03/2022 19:52

You def need a pcr done so it is formally registered.

Most GPs won't do the letters and many countries won't accept the nhs app or email as confirmation.

It often has to be an official letter'!from a health professional' - a number of private clinics and a number of the testing companies can arrange them. They are paid for though.

Abraxan · 12/03/2022 19:55

For Italy you can do an LFT I believe.
Far less likely to test positive on an lft by that stage. Even on a pcr he may well not by that point, but even less likely on LFT.
