Summer holiday with teens. Abroad, not expensive

Hi, I am looking for some inspiration where to take my two teenage sons on holiday on my own this summer.
DH won't have any holiday days left, so just me (he has been on a sports holiday without us).
Kids like football, swimming, snorkeling, eating.
They are both interested in history, but have a short attention span for monuments and museums.
Ds1 likes cities, DS2 likes marine life/animals.
I like history, reading my book, sitting in the sun. Swimming if not too cold.

Given its not a whole family holiday I don't want to spend too much money. Thinking easyjet flights and apartment /hotel room.
Where would you go in late July/early August?

I've been looking at those suggestions near Venice and most are fully booked for summer holidays already

Duinrell is more pricey in the summer, but if you want an October holiday, it’s under £400!

We always do Duinrell October mid term. Paid summer prices once but never again as it's not a sun holiday , weather not that great.

Weather in October is gorgeous !

OP we always book directly with Duinrell. If you don't you have to pay for the waterpark.

Dubrovnik, then Croatian island hopping.

Duinrell looks great for a future holiday.
I have booked some accommodation on an island near Venice. I am hoping to find a waterpark we can go to as day visitors.
Lots of pizza and exploring planned as well as beach at Lido.
DS1 is just disappointed we are not going to Thailand or Australia (we never were), so can't please everyone.
