Eurocamp and the like

DH and I are starting to think about our summer holiday and are considering Eurocamp or something similar. Does anyone have any suggestions of good places to go or non-Eurocamp places that do similar things?

We're looking to go early June - me, DH and DD who will be 9 1/2 months by then. We don't want to fly so looking to go by car and ferry or euro tunnel over to the continent. I'm hoping for warm and preferably near the beach with some local places to visit!

Guînes near Calais is eurocamp, but you can book direct. There's a logis hôtel on site and chalets as well as camping. It's near to Azincourt with a museum - commentary by Robert Hardy - je was a longbow expert. The beaches of the côte d'Opale are lovely, and there are strawberries in June.

You need to go quite far south to guarantee warm beach weather in early June. How far are you happy to drive/stopover?

We've done France a few times in early June and wouldn't go any further north than Bordeaux if you're really looking to gaurantee the weather.

Eurocamps are great but you need the weather to make the most of them. The holiday we went to one the park was just south-west of Paris near Chambord and it rained fairly consistently!

Way back in the 1980s our family used to drive down to Catalonia. We stayed at a campsite called Playa Montroig. It was ace. It’s still there.

The balance is always the length of drive vs. reliability of weather

We have had some great times in the Vendee and La Garangeoire is a Mumsnet favourite, for very good reason. We’ve had good weather there but also some rain. But look up average temps, I would’ve thought June would be a good bet.
I found the drive a good distance and the roads are nice to drive on round there. There’s a kids and baby pool area your little one would like, as well as the man made lagoon surrounded by sand, and nice beaches nearby.
Eurocamp do have units there but I’d recommend booking direct with the campsite into their own chalets/mobile homes unless you specifically want the euro camp kids club

Eurocamp don't have their own sites, they rent pitches on existing sites, so most sites will have a range of operators similar to Eurocamp, eg Canvas, Matthews, Vacances Soleil, etc (list might be a bit out of date!). Some are cheaper than Eurocamp and some sites you can also directly hire tents or mobile homes from. Googling something like mobile home holiday France will bring up results.

www.peneyrals.com/en and www.saint-avit-loisirs.com/en/ both in the Dordogne I would recommend.
www.lesranchisses.fr/en/ in the Ardeche - one of my all time faves.
Been to a few in Italy and South of France but not sure if you want to drive so far with baby.
