Where is cooler in August?

I really want to go abroad this year, as we haven’t been for about 4 years.
Due to annual leave issues, the only time DH and I can both have off is in August.

I wanted to book somewhere like Majorca, do the whole beach, pool, all inclusive thing (DC aged 7 and 3 so this type of holiday suits us) but I am such a wuss when it comes to the sun. I love sunshine and sunbathing, but anything over about 25 and I can’t cope. As all the usual suspects are 30+ in August, where can we go that is a bit cooler but still has all the same facilities as Spain etc?

Thanks in advance Smile

(We usually go away at Easter or Autumn for this reason)

Lanzarote?
It is warm but it gets a lot of wind which stops it feeling so baking hot. Not so windy that it isn’t nice to sunbathe, but it keeps you cool. It can be deceptive, it’s easy to burn by thinking it’s not too hot then not applying sunscreen regularly enough!

France, Northern Spain, Northern Portugal, The Azores, Madeira.

Northern France, not the south of France. We’ve been there a few years in July ‘August where it has been around 40/41 degrees.

I’d go for Brittany / Loire valley or somewhere like that. There are lots of eurocmamps to pick from

Northern France or Spain. We are off to San Sebastián in August and the average temp is 20c

I was thinking of a euro camp in northern France, but I want all inclusive ideally

Northern Spain, Canaries, Madeira should all be sunny and in the 20s. You can have freak hot weather (we did in San Sebastian in July a few years ago - it was 40 degrees), but generally you shouldn't get temps over 30.

Brittany can be amazing, if you get good weather, but sticking out into the Atlantic it gets similar weather to Cornwall and you can be unlucky and get rain, even in high summer.

The canaries don't get the same stifling hot that mainland Europe does otherwise it's quite hard to guarantee. Northern Spain/France could be on but they do also get tremendous heatwaves. Madeira is cooler too.

Ireland.

A lot of Spaniards head to the Canaries in August as it’s cooler. I agree it is, the breeze off the Atlantic is quite cooling too although it is normally 25-30 degrees I find. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura tend to be windier therefore feel cooler. I don’t think anywhere else cooler will have the All Inclusive set up you’re looking for.

Brittany?
