Disneyland Paris - where to stay?

Hopeful16 · 28/02/2022 19:26

Just that really... we want to go in December and will have a 4yo and an almost 6yo. Where do people recommend to stay? Which hotel is best for families? Is there a point to paying more to be a few minutes closer?
TIA of advice.

We’ve stayed in a few, Newport is my least favourite as it doesn’t feel fun at all.

ENoeuf · 01/03/2022 14:06

I hate the smell in the Disney Hotel (the pink one) so wouldn’t go back especially with my kids who have asd and found it overwhelming.

OutlookStalking · 01/03/2022 14:17

We did the Marvel one when it was HNY a long time ago when in Jan there wasn't much difference in pricing!

slmum - did you eat in the Marvel hotel? We were wondering about a meal there as one of our "treats" but not sure!

Disneyland Hotel or the New York one - stayed in both numerous times and would recommend

Stayed at sequoia lodge when they were that age and Newport bay a few years later. Both walking distance to the park though I would consider renting a large double buggy, dd was 5 and struggled

Santa fe was the cheapest and themed with the films Cars....Nice little walk to the park but breakfast was mayhem and very limited.

DaisyTheUnicorn · 01/03/2022 15:45

We used to do breakfast when it was free but couldn't see the point of 20ish quid a head for it!!! So this time we will stock up on bits for the room and buy a midmorning snack in the village/park.

skgnome · 01/03/2022 15:50

We like to stay in Disney hotels to get the extra magic hour… one time my DH and DD managed 8 games in that hour!
The closer you can afford to stay the better really…
All the hotels are very kid friendly

We went to sequoia a few years ago, it was rundown and in need of refurb which I believe is now being undertaken. Great location but it's not a short walk with small kids. Mine loved the pool and opted out of the last day in the park to spend it in the pool.

A lot of DLP is showing it's age.

Thank you everyone for taking time to reply. Where were the favourite places to eat?

Mine liked the fast food pizza place near Its a Small World, the character breakfast in the park (can’t remember but there’s only one), and the buffet in the Studios. Hated the character dinner in the pink hotel. Nothing they would eat as it was very much French cuisine and they have very bland tastes.

Just booked Cheyenne for November. We have stayed at all the Disney hotels over the years.(Im in my 60")I think the Disneyland is closed until next year. For small children I would suggest the Cheyenne. It has lovely Woody, Toy Story themed rooms. Have look on YouTube for individual hotels, lots of guides and walk through videos so that you can get an idea of what to expect.

Thank you- I love Mumsnet and the way people are happy to recommend 😀

We are planing to stay in the B&B hotel. It’s a bit further out but it still has the shuttle bus. It includes breakfast and also was cheaper than the other Disney hotels meaning we could afford to stay an extra day

ENoeuf · 11/03/2022 19:01

We also had a green pass for one of my children (for disabled access) so didn’t bother with the magic hours and also had a MasterCard so you could book some of the meet and greets? Think there’s also an app now to book those.

Floralnomad · 11/03/2022 19:07

I’ve stayed at Sequoia , Newport , New York ( now marvel ) , Davy Crockett and Disneyland hotel - most of them many times and Newport Bay is my least favourite . Disneyland hotel is the best but is currently closed . Our eldest is going at Easter and he’s staying in Sequoia but has paid the bit extra for a room in the main building .

DaisyTheUnicorn · 11/03/2022 20:38

I think we can get a green card too so wondering how it works. I dont know if we will manage full days though.

PutYourBackIntoit · 11/03/2022 21:12

I loved the centre parcs near there. The pools are amazing.

DrAddisonForbesMontgomery · 11/03/2022 21:34

I personally would stay in the Marvel, Sequoia or Newport Bay. Well within walking distance to the village & park, no need to get on the shuttle buses which can be very crowded.

We stayed in the Newport Bay and really enjoyed it. There was a character in reception every night too. We booked there for the pool which I wouldn't bother about again as we didn't have any time to use it but I did like the hotel & thought breakfast had a good selection.

ENoeuf · 12/03/2022 09:10

Green card is one of two access systems think green is more generous and the other is for eg pregnant women , temp crutches maybe? Anyway we had to take lots of evidence specific about queuing and get a card at guest services. It then allowed us to use the disabled queue. We also couldn’t do full days and spent a lot of time managing meltdowns at the side of the park.

OutlookStalking · 12/03/2022 09:26

It looks like we can get one with DLA but was still hoping to use magic hours - had hoped it would be less busy. We're also going midweek in term time but not sure how it will all pan out. Its November so I dont think the park will be open as late/show in the dark will be earlier than summer.

Floralnomad · 12/03/2022 10:10

You can apply for your access pass before you travel apparently which saves you queuing when you arrive .

ENoeuf · 12/03/2022 10:47

Oh that’s interesting, we couldn’t - had to go in person with ID. We could apply for discount rate. We also had to evidence why they couldn’t queue.

OutlookStalking · 12/03/2022 11:39

It looks like it says you can apply a month in advance but still need to show evidencd when you arrive?

They've removed discounted rate if you buy a package though.

We stayed at the Cheyenne and it was absolutely fine. Short walk to the park which was nice and very clean and tidy. Plus it was very quiet so we slept very well
