UK holiday near bike trails and canoes?

I want to book for a week somewhere in UK for the May half term. Any ideas? With kids 15 and 11, so moving into more activities.

Self catering, some bike hire nearby for easy bike trails, canoe hire for beginners. Swimming pool ideally.

You might find Scotland more affordable as the schools don't have a week off for half term in May. This year they've got the Jubilee Thurs & Fri holidays but they'll mostly, if not all, be in school Mon-Wed.
