Do kids need ID to fly London to Glasgow?

Taking my 3 DS on a long overdue trip to Scotland to see family. Flying Gatwick to Glasgow which I've done many times before. I know passport isn't strictly necessary but when I've flown alone this is what I've always taken as seems easier. None of the kids ages 6,4 and 2 have passports. 6 year old has an expired baby one. They all have the same surname as me. Should I take their birth certificates?? Do I need anything?? Just wondering how it works?? Anyone done this before? I'm not actually taking them out of UK so does it matter?? I've looked on easyJet website and FAQ and can't find anything! Thanks!

I don't think so. I've flown with my 4 year old in the last week from England to Northern Ireland and no ID required for her. Only needed when flying out of the UK I think.

I think that it depends on the airline.

Certainly flying on RyanAir we needed a passport, not just ID, for our child flying from Luton to Dublin.

Does this page help?

Dublin isn't in the UK though, OP is flying domestic.

It depends on the airline.

Legally you don't need a passport, but Ryanair (and probably others) have it in their T&C's that they only accept passports.

Could be cheaper to travel with a particular airline rather than buying passports!

Depends on the airline.

Legally they don't need ID.
In practical terms many airlines require formal photo id regardless of the legalities.

Since we don't have ID cards here, that means passports for most uk children.

Depends on the airline…

This for BA from:

www.britishairways.com/en-fr/information/passports-visas-and-api

“For UK domestic flights

If you are flying solely within the UK, including Northern Ireland, you do not need a passport but we advise that you carry photographic identification with you when travelling, such as your passport or driving licence. This may be requested at certain points in your journey. Children under the age of 16 years do not require identification to travel within the UK.”

Depends entirely on the airline.

Hi OP - was all OK flying from London to Scotland on easyJet with no kids passports? My son will be 2 months old - I have tried to call easyJet and they couldn’t give me an answer! Thanks
