Where to go in Canada or elsewhere with hard to please teens

Is it a good place for a holiday? It would be me and two teens aged 14 and 16. Neither is very sporty, one loves museums and culture and the other doesn't! The younger one is very keen on going outside of Europe but has no real idea of what he would like to do, though he's keen to see the Niagara Falls. If not Canada, where would people recommend for us? I find it hard as they're not into beaches/waterparks but only one really likes the cultural stuff but both do want to go away... Thinking ahead to summer of 2023 when eldest will have finished GCSEs

I'm going to show my ignorance here. I've not been on a 'foreign' holiday as a adult , couldn't afford it. Now in my 50s I can, how do you organise trips like this?

We booked most parts separately. I did book flights with British Airways and added a couple of our hotel bookings to that which meant it was a package holiday which gives a bit more protection (possibly ABTA or similar). Other than that we booked hotels, trains and some excursions separately. We were lucky our trip was in 2019 because I suspect if it had been 2020 we might have had some problems getting our money refunded due to Covid. There are lots of threads on here with some great ideas of destinations and I’m sure people would give you some help with how to book.

We’ve put some of our trips together ourselves but we’ve also found Trailfinders and Canadian Affair very good too -the latter got us cheaper prices and better hotels than we could have got ourselves and put together a package which included everything including flights, transfers, ferries, hire cars and hotels.

Thank you, that gives me a starting point..

@Hyenaormeercat we just do lots of research on where we want to go and when - then book flights and hotels/other accommodation. We travel around an area so we work out a route taking in the places we want visit, and use public transport or hire a car to get around.

Here is useful to ask for advice, but I’d definitely recommend the Tripadvisor forums to get tips/ideas and suggested itineraries. I also really like getting a proper guidebook to start with just to generate some ideas.

We’ve done loads of travel, most years we take a longer trip and have three or four weeks to explore a specific area - places we’ve visited and travelled around are Hokkaido, Patagonia and the Yucatan peninsula. I’ve never used a travel agent because I enjoy the planning and researching aspect myself Smile have fun planning your trip!
