Travelling to Italy - with children. Advice covid regulations

Has anyone travelled to Italy recently and can advise on covid regulations? Any info would be really helpful but especially whether you need/have to have a pcr/lft test when returning to U.K. Also if you did test positive in Italy, are you required to stay in covid hotel or can you return to friends/family/ own accommodation. There’s lots of conflicting information online. Many thanks in advance.

As far as I know, there are no Covid hotels in Italy. For any testing to return to the UK you'd need to look at the UK govt website.
Your most important info is about the vaccination- if your last dose is older than 180 days, you currently have to test every 48 hours.

My understanding is that the 6 month rule now only applies to second dose. Booster is unlimited.

No, if you read the link it's very clear. 6 months for non Italians. Of course (hopefully) all of these regulations will slowly but surely get relaxed, but that's how it stands at the moment.

Wow! Thanks for this thread. I had my booster in November and am due to go to Italy at the end of May… just over 6 months from my booster.

However, I had covid last month and luckily I chose to get a PCR so there was an official record. Really glad I did that now as otherwise I’d not get the green pass.

I don’t think I am wrong. If you click on List D (which UK falls under) it says:

“The certifications for vaccination with booster dose or recovery from Covid-19 after vaccinated for completion of the primary cycle or booster dose do not have a predetermined validity”

Poor translation- but clearly means no expiry for booster.

This is also backed up by Uk gov page on Italy travel restrictions

“The primary vaccination certificate has unlimited validity in Italy for those who have had a booster dose”

www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/italy/entry-requirements

Also applies to those who had covid after having two doses by the way.

Yes I think you’re right Verite

You are right, I just checked.

"The primary vaccination certificate has unlimited validity in Italy for those who have had a booster dose."

We travel to Italy in April for a cruise so we are hoping that Italy may follow our lead and scrap the other entry requirements such as the testing prior to departure.

Such a minefield ...

Do you mean you have to get tested again before leaving Italy to return to the U.K.?

Is anyone concerned about what happens if you test positive when you are there? Have seen some horror stories online of people being placed in covid hotels at their own expense? Thanks
