Eurocamp - single mum with teenage boys

Hello, can anyone please recommend a good Eurocamp site for early-mid teen DC who are obsessed with watersides. Also would rather fly and not have to hire a car as nervous about driving on the other side of the road. I've never done Eurocamp before, but thought it might be ideal place they can bugger off and entertain themselves while I relax in the sun. Really grateful for any advice, thanks!

Oh, and one child won't be vaccinated, if that makes any difference!

Duinrell for waterslides, ita rhe beat watwr park ive ever been to. There is also a theme park on site. Weather not much different to here though. Some of the Spanish sites seem to have good waterslides as well. Have you considered the europe center parcs?

Peppapigforlife · 13/02/2022 15:05

I don't know which one to recommend but I worked at a campsite in France for a different company which had Eurocamp on the site and I think it's a perfect place to relax whilst they have fun. I don't remember seeing Eurocamp running activities for their teens though (could have changed by now) but Canvas holidays did. Once you find the campsite that best suits your need, have a research to see who offers holidays there as you may find one with teen activities.

I just presumed European centre parcs would be really expensive?

Wassenar in the Netherlands. There's a swimming pool & theme park on site.
It's about 45mins from Amsterdam which I believe you can do by public transport or taxi.

floppybit · 13/02/2022 15:07

Thanks @Peppapigforlife , I don't think they need activities as such, but definitely the more grown up water slides rather than little toddlers splash zone

Any recommendations in France or Spain where weather will be warmer?

I haven't been to Eurocamp for years but loved them when DS was younger, they used to have a really helpful enquiry service where you could call and just have a chat about the different sites and which are recommended for different age groups. Suggest you try that?

Peppapigforlife · 13/02/2022 15:12

I only worked in Carnac which had similar weather to Cornwall. You can look at their brochure though for France and Spain and it will list all the facilities. The reason I said about the activities were because they were very good, like water zorbing, football zorbing etc and included in the holiday price.

If you look on the ‘car optional’ section in Eurocamp’s website, they have a site in Fréjus on the French Riviera. It’s a lovely hot part of the country, beautiful beaches etc.

Union Lido in Italy

Duinrell (Wassanar) in The Netherlands. We usually go in August and have always had fabulous weather, not sure if we've just been lucky. Totally doable without a car. Nearest town is a short walk, public transport is good.

floppybit · 13/02/2022 16:48

@Pearlyqueen21 was just looking at La Baume in Frejus but it says car recommended . Will see if there's any others in that area, but watersides at this one looks really good

Also Bella Italia on Lake Garda in Italy - it’s walkable from the station in Peschiera del Garda.
scaredsadandstuck · 13/02/2022 18:48

Oh yes Bella Italia would be a good one. Obviously you'd need to get a cab from the airport but otherwise you'd be fine. Big site with lots to do for older kids, Peschiera is a lovely town for a wander and a meal out, you can hire pedalos on the lake, do a boat trip etc. I think they did a little tourist train to/from the site if you didn't want to do the walk but it's really not that far.

Not sure what the vaccination requirements are for Italy though.

scaredsadandstuck · 13/02/2022 18:49

Oh I missed @Pearlyqueen21saying it's walkable from the station! Even better and Italian trains are fab!

floppybit · 13/02/2022 19:08

Bella Italia looks really good! Just need to check out entry requirements

Look also at

gogohm · 13/02/2022 19:31

Look also at pierre et vacances, across Europe chalets and mobile homes like euro camp. Can't recommend specific sites but I saw a good one near Marseilles (we stayed elsewhere).

gogohm · 13/02/2022 19:37

Also if you can go by public transport efficiently there's a huge site near caorle north of Venice, I drove though. Pra del torri. There's a bus not too far. Or take the train across Europe as an adventure

I used to work at Vieux Port in Gascony and think it has what you are after.

Loads of different companies have accommodation at Bella Italia, but it can be cheaper to book direct with the site so worth checking out their own website as well as Eurocamp, Canvas etc.

I booked with Eurocamp in the past on the basis that their mobile homes were likely to be located together and therefore we would be near to lots of other English speaking families that the kids could make friends with. But in reality Eurocamp operate in several different countries so that wasn't the case and the kids didn't make friends. Although mine were much younger the last time we went so might be different for older kids.

Indiana2021 · 13/02/2022 23:07

If you do a search on the Eurocamp website you can set filters around 'close to airport' 'car not required' 'waterslides'. There's even a section on the homepage with sites recommended for teens.
It might be cheaper to book with another provider or direct with the site but the Eurocamp website is fab for researching.
If sunnier parts of France are your first choice the Languedoc and Roussillon areas have plenty of waterslide options.
Bella Italia is great with loads going on, but not many slides. It is really close to Gardaland though which is like the Italian Alton Towers with an additional new lego waterpark.

Mossstitch · 13/02/2022 23:38

I've done Bella Italia when mine were young, one of them was a teenager and other two primary school age and it was lovely. Lots of little villages to wander around in the evening and eat pizza and ice cream🤤 the best theme park not far from there too called gardaland although I drove but I'm sure there are probably trips arranged by the campsite. Was one of my favourite holidays and I've done a lot of Eurocamp, just rather a long time ago to remember details but I did have my one go on a very fast Waterslide in Frejus, that's imprinted on my memory......... Never again is all I can say😳 but I'm sure teenagers would love it!!
