Am pretty sure Spain is quite aware when school holidays are in countries that send most tourists to Spain.

Yes, but over the past 2 years Spain has been receiving less and less British tourists, who are being replaced by other nordic European countries such as Germany, Sweden, Denmark... All of which are covered by the EU Digital Covid Cert and have never been banned from entering Spain, regardless of age.

German half term in some states was two weeks ago for example. I doubt Spain's priority was to make sure UK holiday makers with teens could visit Spain this month.

Spain, like most other EU countries has really not been losing sleep over fewer British tourists and the mistaken belief that tourism within the EU has ground to a halt because British children aren't vaccinated is risible.
It may come as a surprise to some of us Brits but since last summer when EU countries had freedom of movement between them thanks to the EU pass, plus the fact that in most EU countries over 5s are getting vaccinated whilst teenagers have all been double and triple vaccinated for months, tourism has gone ahead as usual. Yes, fewer British children. The rest of the EU has continued to travel.

Who do you meet who holds such beliefs, PAFMO? (*)

I guess €3 billion truly is nada . I mean, it's especially limonada compared to €2.6 billion.

(*) since when can't MNers grumble lightheartedly about their own petty inconveniences.

Sure you can … yeah it’s an inconvenience for those that had flights and have cancelled

We just are saying that despite British bringing money for the Spanish government it wasn’t a high Priority to amend it

You do realise Germany is only ONE EU country, right? And that there are 25 other EU countries who are also providing tourism to Spain?

As another Spanish mumsnetter, I'm telling you this 'Spain needs us so badly otherwise their economy collapses' narrative is seen very often on here. Perhaps you don't hold such a belief, but many do. It was true 10-20 years ago, much less so nowadays. Especially since the pandemic.

UK - from €17 billion to €3 billion
Germany - from €11.6 billion to €2.6 billion

As we're trying to say, tourism from EU countries hasn't decreased as much as tourism from the UK, because the system has been much simpler ever since the introduction of the EU Digital Covid Cert. The numbers you provided yourself back this up because even in 2020, travel rules were easier between EU state members.

omg, I guess no chance in hell on MN of making a lighthearted comment without sparking projections about character & culture wars?

When did this place turn so freakin' dull and "worthy"

Sheesh.

Post 1: whinging that Spain hasn't moved its restrictions to accommodate British kids' school year needs Post 2: saying that Brits keep the Spanish economy going.

Is the "light-hearted" bit very subtle?

@maddy68

Outdoor masks are no longer in Spain

Ahh! Hadn't read this as official but we are here at the moment (resort , southern Spain ) and in practice very few people are wearing them .
