Hi, I'm thinking of taking the family to Duinrell next May half term.
Has anyone been at this time? I'm trying to figure out if it's school holidays over there Confused
I will have 9 and 7 year old dc who I hope still be the perfect age got the theme park and tiki pool.
Are the Dungalows (?) Worth booking with them direct as there are so many other operators too!
Sorry, so many questions! Thank you Flowers

We went in October half term last year, it was great. It was the first time we've been to Holland in UK half term time (and we've been 5 or 6 times) that I'd have said the schools were out. The park itself was quite busy, but not desperately. We had a 3 bedroom Dungalow and it was fab. Very comfortable, clean, excellent facilities and nowhere in the park is more than a 10 minute walk from anything. Our DS is 10 and loved the pool and park.

We've booked for this October holidays. There is a Facebook page that's worth joining - loads and loads of similar questions and knowledgeable replies. Don't know how to link it but just search FB for Duinrell chat and tips for holidaymakers

Ahhh thank you both! iT looks really good and I can't believe how much cheaper it is than holidays in the UK.

The NL May half term starts 30th April so unlikely to clash with UK hols. Dunglalows are nicer than the Eurocamp offering as I recall.

Just to say I wouldn't get hung up with school holidays - it will generally be busy anyway even if it isn't school hols (at least in the day) as its very popular for school trips.

We had a great time when we went - if you book with other companies (rather than directly with Duinrell) just check whether entrance to the pool is extra. It was for us - not massively expensive but adds up if you're going every day.

The time to watch then is Ascension day- the Netherlands/Germany/Belgium tend to celebrate this as a 4 day holiday, including the weekend so the park may be busier then, if that's the case.

You can either book direct, or with Eurocamp or Alfresco. The last two are usually a bit cheaper but they do not include swimming, so if this interests you work out the cost both ways, depending on how often you might go. I think you can get ferry deals with Eurocamp, so that may also be something to consider. Accommodation for all 3 is spread throughout the park, Duinrell offer a choose the plot option, not sure on the other 2.

Join the FB group, there is a lot of good info on there. It's understandably been quite quiet for the last 2 years, but much of the info like supermarkets, travel, passport photos for ID is still valid and useful.

There's a holiday weekend end of May so before the long weekend there's school groups and then over the weekend it's families.

We have only ever stayed in a canvas caravan but booked a Duingalow for this May. Well it's been cancelled 2020 and 2021.

The park is never too busy and queues not long. If you stay onsite you can go say 10-12 on rides while it's quieter.

Tiki bad is fab. You get free entry I think with duingalow.

Wassenaar is lovely with nice Italian & ice cream for 1 Euro a scoop. Decent supermarket.

Beach is nearby.

Can't speak highly enough of the place - so much better than UK theme park.

MiniCooperlover what were covid restrictions? I'm concerned about having to quarantine.

MiniCooperLover · 02/02/2022 09:14

converseandjeans There were no major Covid restrictions, definitely no quarantine when we went. You had to do the two day travel test before, I don't remember doing one to return. The usual masks, etc. though they were much more relaxed with it over there than we were, which I found unusual as they'd had a much more stringent lockdown than us. Generally it was fine.
