Spain entry rules

I'm looking to book a package holiday to the Canary's for October half term. I've not been away since the virus broke out as wanted more normality.

Of course I'm aware the rules change frequently and most likely will be different in October but I'm trying to get my head around the current ones (well the change in Feb).

Am I right in thinking-

a) My husband and I are both fully vaccinated including booster. All 3 jabs outside the 270 day period by October but as we have had the booster we are OK to travel?

b) My DC are 15&16 and double vaccinated but not currently eligible for a booster. By the time of travel in October their 2nd doses will be outside the 270 day period. They can't travel, unless they have been able to have a booster a minimum of 2 weeks before but less than 270 days?

I'm hoping either rules change or that my DC are allowed the booster for travel.

TIA

You're correct.
We're going to Spain in April, both dd's (17 and 14) will be getting second jabs in March, they had to wait 12 weeks as they had covid in December. Me and dp are fully jabbed including boosters

Can 15 and 16 year olds have the booster?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 31/01/2022 17:10

In Wales 16 year olds are going to be offered boosters, I’m sure that must be the case for all of the uk.
When is your youngest’s birthday?

My youngest has only just turned 15. Crossing fingers they will be offered a booster by then if its still a requirement.

Thanks everyone

Yes, I know this is an oldish thread.

Is my current understanding correct, I've read the government website and find it a little ambiguous?

My DD is 15, she is double vaccined and has never knowingly had covid. We also plan to go to Spain during October half term. My daughter is not currently eligible for a booster vaccine and by date if travel her 2nd booster will be 10 months old. She can enter with a negative PCR but not by her vaccine staus?

Crazycatlady83 · 23/05/2022 17:53

The TUI website have a very helpful table with all the entry restrictions, requirements etc. Have a look there. The rules will probably change between now and then, but the table is constantly updated and I've found really helpful!

HappyGoDucky · 23/05/2022 19:33

So looking at that link it does look like I've understood it right.

My DD is as fully vaccinated as can be in the UK as not yet entitled to booster jab. Unfortunately at this stage Spain will not see her as fully vaccinated. She will have yo take a PCR, feel a bit uneasy as I guess the chances of catching covid in October after schools return from the summer break is relatively high.

You need to get a vaccination proof QR code from the Spanish site
Http://spth.gob.es

you register, create a family booking, fill out flight details and passport number.
then wait until 72 hours before flying to complete and obtain a qr code for each person travelling.
you can download and have qr code emailed to you.

We are all fully vaccinated the uk so our NHS passes will suffice. DD however will not be classed as fully vaccinated by the time we travel to Spain (no booster currently offered for her age group) she will need a PCR. What is the advantage of usi.h the site you have linked out of intetest please? I haven't seen this advice before but thank you.

Hmmm, we have this problem with Slovakia this weekend as son can't get 2nd jab yet - but Slovakia also doesn't ask for tests either so not sure what we can do?

dementedpixie · 24/05/2022 15:23

The .gov site now says you can do a PCR or LFT for travel if you don't have the required proof of vaccination.

Doesn't look like they accept travellers that aren't fully vaccinated

Echobelly · 24/05/2022 15:32

It doesn't, but I can't believe there isn't a workaround? Can't find info anywhere, husband can't get through to embassy. Honestly if DS gets a clear PCR test he's safer than the rest of us but I know there's nothing we can do if they don't accept it.

Sorry I should have mentioned that part of the process is proving your vaccination status.
The site allows you to upload a digital proof ( seems to be an EU thing ) or you can choose the option to state your vaccination status and you take your printed proof along.

At the airport in Spain ( we flew to Madrid this week ) they ask for your QR code from their site. If you have it you go in one queue where the QR code was scanned and you’re done. ( yes , they didn’t ask to see our NHS vaccination print outs so what was the point , maybe they assumed we’d uploaded proof ).
if you didn’t have the QR code you had to complete some process in some other slower queue.

may be a moot point as I noticed after I posted OP said they’re going in October.
