Large group holiday- help with destination/hotel

We are planning a large group holiday this summer and I need some help with ideas. It will be for 2 weeks and we are open to all of Europe, preferably not further than that. Budget is mid to large range. Roughly 9k per family of 3 (2 weeks).
It'll be a mix of small kids, older couples and teens.
The requirements are:
Reasonable priced food (£70 per day pp preferably) or full board/ all inclusive.
The ages of people coming are:
Kids: 4,6,6,6,8,11,12,14,14,15
Adults: 22,28 and than 30+. None of retirement age.
A hotel/resort that's not too far out for activities or a nice town.
Must have family/interconnecting rooms.
I really want to be able to give the parents of small kids the ability to leave them in a kids club but that's not a deal breaker. What I really need is water activities for the older kids, preferably included so needs to be waterfront. Not fussed about academies/golf/tennis or anything like that.
The problem I'm having is the resort's all look pretty huge or are in Turkey which a couple of the families are too scared to go to, same with cruises.
Anyone knows if this exists in Europe?

Thanks

@CrimbleCrumble1 thank you for that suggestion. I will have a look. Crete is one of the preferred destinations so this could work.

Mitsis have hotels on other Greek islands too and I think Cyprus. Pick one of the five star properties.

CraftyGin · 31/01/2022 18:03

Have you thought about a cruise, OP?

It's quite common to see multi-family groups.

justaweeone · 31/01/2022 18:15

Would a catered villa work?

Meadowbreeze · 31/01/2022 18:54

@CraftyGin yes I think I mentioned in the op that wouldn't work. None long enough in Europe.
@justaweeone Yes and no. The parents of little kids want some sort of kid club and the teens will want activities. I don't think a catered villa exists in those circumstances. I found a perfect place in Turkey but it'll be far too hot there when we want to go.

@justaweeone

Would a catered villa work?
I was just going to ask this. You would likely get a large villa for 15k for a fortnight with everyone in their own rooms, flights extra of course.

Some funds could then be used to get a caterer in for every breakfast, maybe 8 evening meals (rest out in local towns), and maybe the hire of a couple of cars for trips out.

Tui Blue and holiday villages have duplexes on most sites, the family rooms have a dividing door as well to separate the kids from the adults.

We've been to a few and there's loads for the little kids, the older kids will find enough to do to. We're going to Ibiza this time and there is a water park on site.

Meadowbreeze · 31/01/2022 21:31

@itwasntaparty thank you! Will have a look.

Have you looked at the gran Melia Palacio de isora in Tenerife (tui sell this too). If you look at their website directly they’ve got loads of room types/board basis.

Throwing in a curve ball here. Have you thought about Mauritius? Summer is their “winter” but the weather is still glorious (but you need to go west / south west coast as it gets windy on the East). We went in 2019 and paid £5,000 for a family of four, all inclusive five star, two weeks with direct BA flights.

It was SO much cheaper than anything we could possibly have found in Europe that was comparable and had everything you have asked for. An agent can point you in the right direction for those with family rooms / interconnecting etc.

Meadowbreeze · 01/02/2022 08:16

@Zodlebud definitely. This holiday was actually booked for Christmas in Mauritius. Omicron happened and someone in the group has been diagnosed with cancer so they are worried about travelling so far. It's also why were not going in Easter (current chemo ends march they will be wiped out).

@Meadowbreeze Our flights were overnight there and back so could work for the person who’s in recovery and the smaller children. I definitely wouldn’t do it without direct flights though.

We had two days of bad weather over the two weeks (rain) and one day it was windy but still hot enough to sit out in the sun comfortably in your swimmers, swim in the pool etc.

Your money will go a LOT further in the summer than at Christmas too. Just don’t go east coast.

Meadowbreeze · 01/02/2022 09:35

@Zodlebud thank you so much. Do you have any recommendations for hotels in West or south? Yes, the layover timings in Dubai are absolutely brutal and we wouldn't ever do those. I will check if Mauritius air or BA still fly direct in summer. Hopefully we'll find something.

Meadowbreeze
I just wanted to say that even if you find a suggestion on here you like you can probably still book it through the Travel Agent (who definitely still isn’t me) I suggested
You won’t pay more and they will do all the organising

Have you looked at Neilson? We went to their Croatia venue and had a fantastic family holiday. It has family rooms, 2 bedroom suites and 2 bedroom beach huts. Kids club and all water sports and activities included. They even offer sleep club a couple of nights a week so you can have a kid free evening. Decent food and lovely town within walking distance. We've booked again!

Zodlebud · 01/02/2022 10:14

We stayed at the Heritage Awali but I would have preferred the Heritage Le Telfair next door. They share the same site and you can use the facilities at both. The kids club was superb and you can just drop in unless you want them to have a meal there. They had an activity schedule so we just took our kids when there was something on they fancied (glass bottom boat ride, crab racing, tie dying, cup cake decorating, henna tattoos……). For the older ones there’s things like paddle boarding and canoeing, snorkelling and sailing. Kite surfing was extra.

The agent also showed us a hotel that had like these little kids bedrooms attached to the main bedroom but I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called.

Pre kids we stayed at The St Regis which also has family friendly rooms and the Hilton. Both of which were great.

I think best location that time of year is around Le Morne where the St Regis is.

Zodlebud · 01/02/2022 10:16

Although the St Regis is now the JW Marriott apparently…….

Meadowbreeze · 01/02/2022 11:29

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. They all look great. I have passed these suggestions on to the travel agent we've decided to go with.

I stayed at a hotel in Le Morne in the summer and it was too windy to do a lot of the water sports. The kite surfing was amazing to watch.
