Vaccines needed for NYC for children

I'm having trouble finding very clear info on this. I have read in one place that children over 5 will need to have proof of 2 vaccines to enter NYC from the end of January.
I think from Dec it was one vaccine but is changing to two. Does anyone know for sure please?

We're in the UK and going to New York in April with an 8 year one.

Does anyone know whether an 8 year old can be vaccinated in the UK or do I need to wait till the government rolls out to you get children?

This serms to say under 17s are exempt from vaccine requirements if travelling with fully vaccinated adults

I thought it was that over 5s needed to have at least one dose (may be two now though) to get in places (museums, theatre etc). Were going to Florida for Easter and the only requirement is a negative LFT the day before you fly.

Can you change it? Not much point going if the DC can't get in anywhere. And no you cant just get vaccinated here. There is talk of vulnerable under 12s being offered the vaccine but not sure when or if you'd qualify anyway

People ages 5 to 12 are required to show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and people 12 and older must show proof of two doses (except for Johnson & Johnson recipients), for:

Indoor dining
Includes restaurants, catering halls, hotel banquet rooms, bars, nightclubs, cafeterias, coffee shops, fast food restaurants, grocery stores with indoor dining and other indoor dining spaces

Indoor fitness
Includes gyms, fitness centers, fitness classes, pools, dance studios and other indoor fitness studios, such as yoga or Pilates

Indoor entertainment and certain meeting spaces
Includes movie theaters, music and concert venues, museums, aquariums and zoos, professional sports arenas, indoor stadiums, convention centers, exhibition halls, hotel meeting and event spaces, performing arts theaters, bowling alleys, arcades, pool and billiard halls, recreational game centers, adult entertainment and indoor play areas

That's from the NYC gov website

www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-vaccines-keytonyc.page or is it this where they need proof of vaccine to go into some indoor places?

The vaccines are only available to younger children just now if they have a medical need and are at higher risk from covid. Who knows if this will change in the next couple of months

That’s to enter the country.

The vaccine mandate for NYC indoor public spaces e.g. museums, restaurants is changing to 2 doses needed for 5-11 year old as of January 29.
All info here:

And yes you’ll also need to wait for the British government to roll it out to younger children to get her vaccinated in the U.K. because there’s no option to get it privately.

So sorry but it seems like a no go. Plenty of other places in the US you could go to instead though!

alwaystakethetrip · 29/01/2022 17:25

Whilst only a negative test is needed for under 18s to get into the US, each state has its own rules re restaurants/activities etc - NYC kids have to be vaccinated to go into restaurants, whereas there are no restrictions in Florida

We have cancelled N Easter trip for this very reason. I have a 10yo so it's just not worth going.

Does anyone know if a BA voucher for flights we can't use can be spent on holidays including hotels or does it have to be spent on flights only?

You cannot use an eVoucher towards British Airways Holiday bookings online or other products, such as seats

See the T&Cs here:
