Hi so we are looking at booking Orlando/disney/universal for a dream holiday for me my husband and three children aged 13, 12 & 10. All the reviews have said the heat is almost unbearable, but we are limited to july because of school holidays & work commitments. we usually holiday in France/Spain and the kids manage fine with the heat. I'd just like some reassurance really! we are staying onsite in disney and universal so I was thinking we can go out to the parks early then head back to the pool for the afternoon then out again in the eve?

It’s hot, mega hot, but doable. Make use of the water rides, cooling towels, free water…..

Your plan of splitting the day is also a good one, avoid the middle of the day heat.

I’ve done it twice in July and August and still had a fab time.

Can you. not wait til end of August? It's hot, but less busy. July is the worst of all worlds.

Yep it’s hot but not unbearably so - and most places have aircon that’s so fierce you need to put a cardigan or jumper on if you are inside.
It’s hurricane season and it’s quite common to get downpours mid afternoon but it provides a nice respite from the heat. Do get the queue jump passes at the parks though as queuing for long periods in that heat and humidity isn’t pleasant

So hot

RedRobin100 · 28/01/2022 05:17

But what PPs say. Split the day.

Jules0702 · 30/01/2022 15:01

It’s a great idea to split the day as you’ve planned. The heat is more tolerable that way. You can also escape from the heat in shows at the parks which are well air conditioned (such as the Hall of the Presidents, Enchanted tiki birds, etc.) You may also want to check out the Fastpass situation for Disney as they’ve changed the way they do things. You have to book your first pass at 7am and the rest throughout the day.

Hi! Very exciting. You will be totally fine. It will be hot (potentially stormy) but it won’t be a holiday ruiner. We’ve been twice at that time of year with younger children and we found it manageable. Staying in a Disney hotel means less time travelling and having fast passes means you can cut down your waiting times and plan your days and down time. We tended to do early mornings and then come back and swim / rest at the hotel before going out again in the evening. There are some really good tips about what to wear to keep cool. I bought some very comfy teva sandals that kept me going for the hot days. You will have an amazing time!

We went in July a few years back when dc were 3 and 6. It was hot but fine. We did a water park every other day, and in the main parks lots of stuff was in the shade etc. I can't remember it being a problem, other than the thunder storms which would sometimes close the rides until they had passed x

We've been in July and it's absolutely fine if you're staying on site.
We made the most of early morning hours at Disney (think only available now if you're in a deluxe), back for pool and a rest once it got busier, then back to normally a different park in the evening for shows and fireworks (though you'll know as of covid they're not all running yet, we've just been and quite a lot was missing

Krakenchorus · 30/01/2022 16:31

Just, no. Unpleasant, hot and humid and crowded.

SecretWitch · 30/01/2022 16:37

I lived in South Florida for two years. The heat and humidity are very high in July but everyplace is air conditioned. Drink lots of water to avail dehydration. Use lots of sun cream. Most afternoons feature a good thunderstorm. Make sure you are indoors during them as the lightening can be dramatic and dangerous.

Very hot. Used cooling towels every day, just wet and they were great. Just don't forget to drink plenty and use sunscreen.
