Looking at db San Antonio and db Seabank both in Malta. Anyone any experience, either of the specific hotels or the area? Thanks

DB seabank is really nice and next to an actual beach, which is rare in Malta.

I went to Seabank and was unimpressed.

I went to seabank last year, nice hotel, bit it's very big and lots of people. There's not much to do nearby.

Just a wee bump to see if anyone else has experience of DB Seabank. I'm quite tempted for next year but I've not been to Malta before and something is putting me off. Two kids, 5 and 7, who would be in the pool all day if they could, so not looking for loads to do, but still need to get out sometimes! We normally go to the Balearics.

Malta is a marmite place - some rave about it others like me wouldnt go back. Its arid, busy, lots of building work and the food is similar price to here. Valletta the capital is OK. People who like it, seem to want history. We went in October (summer too hot for us) and it did rain a lot and flood, and the pool got closed. so we didnt see it at its best.

We went to the Seabank. It was fine, nothing special.

Have had better food and more things included at other hotels (Greece rather than Malta though).

Definitely get a pool view room. We were 'inland view' which was directly on a very busy main road, made worse by being on an uphill stretch immediately after a roundabout. It stank and the room shook from the large lorries which regularly accelerated noisy up from the roundabout or hurtled down the hill and then fanatically braked.

There's a bus stop straight outside the front of hotel with lots of buses which are cheap. Easy to go to Valetta and to Gozo etc.

We walked up into the village on a couple of evenings too.

Kids loved the pool so much that we didnt end up going to the beach, but it looked nice and was only a few minutes walk.

Would agree with previous poster about it being marmite.

For me, Malta seems to be full of traffic and surrounded by roadworks and both active building sites and abandoned building sites.

There is history and nice parts e.g. Valetta, Mosta dome etc. But mainly seems so so dry and somehow very urban.

I wouldn't race to go back.
