Ibiza holiday - Covid rules to enter - kids

Hi all

We haven’t been abroad for four years almost and have found a bargain in Ibiza to take our four young kids.

From reading online it looks like we need proof of Covid vaccine. My husband and I have had two roses (booster interrupted by having Covid). Sorry to sound stupid but how do you sort out suitable proof or a Covid passport or whatever we need?

Also is Ibiza a nice place to visit? Apparently it’s on the quiet end of the island and not by the clubs. Looks lovely. Would really love some quality time with the children in the sun. It’s also cheaper than center parks….

Thanks in advance x

If you download the nhs app and fill out the details you can then access your covid passport/status

EileenGC · 22/01/2022 08:06

You can get your Covid passes from the NHS app (if you’re in the UK) or you can also request a letter that they post to your home.

Are all the kids under 12? If yes, they’re exempt from any entry requirements except for the entry forms.

When would you go? If it’s the summer holidays, then all the above might have changed by then. It’s very likely rules still change a fair few times between now and summer, so keep monitoring the situation throughout the next few months.

Also worth keeping in mind that most EU countries will now only accept the second dose for a maximum of 9 months, after which your vaccination pass becomes invalid and a booster is required. But again, who knows how all this will change between now and Easter/May bank holiday/summer.

It's on the NHS app. If the place is es cana it's my favourite place, 💛

ImInStealthMode · 22/01/2022 08:08

Ibiza's gorgeous. If you're in an area where you can have the NHS app, that's what you need.

Kids under 12 don't apply. If your 2nd does was over 270 days ago at the time of travel you'll also need to have had a booster.

Lovemylittlebear · 22/01/2022 11:51

Thanks so much guys :)

It’s in May. My booster was September so will make sure I get that before I go. I was hoping to leave booster for a couple of months presuming I have higher antibodies atm and then may get longer with coverage re the booster….are there any nice places to go to with children (1,5,6 abs 9)

Is the current advice no pcrs needed atm just the Covid passports? Will
Monitor for change

Thanks again :) very grateful for advice x

Sorry to gate crash... we were thinking about Feb half term. Do (not Spanish citizen) kids age 12-15 require 2 jabs to get into Spain right now? I think answer is yes...

EasterIssland · 22/01/2022 12:57

Just as a note kids in Spain are being doubled jabbed from 5yo so not sure whether they’re going to decrease the compulsory age where kids must have the vaccine.

Last year those without vaccine were allowed entry with tests. This is not now possible. I think they’ll change it back for summer but so far it’s not the scenario. Just keep an eye in case the rules change for 5-12

Yes they need both jabs. Unless Spanish or citizens of another EU country that will issue them with an EU Covid digital cert (vaccine, recovery, or negative test).

OMG 😳 there’s no way I would give the vaccine to my baby, 5,6 and 9 year old until there is more info indicating benefits re risk for that age group :( I hope that doesn’t become mandatory. My husband and I will get boosters. If that did become mandatory what sort of insurance would cover our choosing not to go due to the change in rules? Xx

@YeOldeTrout :) Feb half term sounds nice 😊

@YeOldeTrout personally I would give the Balearics a miss in February, look to the Canaries if you're hoping for warm weather

If you're going to a Spanish country you have to complete their health form no more than 48hours before you go, which you need to show to check in for your flight. They also check it on arrival, you upload your covid passports to the form and any info for children. You can't enter if you've tested positive for Covid within 14 days of arrival, currently anyway

Feb is one of our favorite times of year in Ibiza but it's not for those who want to sun bathe and swim. It is great for beautiful clean beaches, sea is nippy but pool is freezing, great for walking and exploring the island. Our kids love it for beach days with minimal people and minimal sun cream!

OP May is warming up, sea is great pools still a little chilly. Island is still quiet. I would warn you however that the price of eating out has increased in the 2 covid years.

YeOldeTrout · 22/01/2022 20:38

It's Barcelona I want for a specific activity (activity not available in Canaries.. not in water... ) and yes, Easter break will probably work better! Thanks for confirmation. Teen will have had 2nd dose by then. Cheers.

Well it’s booked :) our first proper family holiday in nearly four years wahoo.

Can anyone recommend a particular insurance provider please?

I like Post Office travel insurance because I reckon they have such high public profile, any policy they offer won't have hidden horrors & ridiculous exceptions in it. I always go with them for that reason -- the cost is at least reasonable ime.

Thank you x
