Sunny holiday, nice resort town but not stuck in an all inc hotel and lots for kids to do?

Looking to book for mid May. I have will have a 3 year old and will be 6 months pregnant. I want to stay somewhere where I'm not stuck on a holiday resort and am close to a nice resort town with lots of different places to eat. Good beaches with gentle sea a must and bonus points if there's a nearby excursion (within 40 minutes) to some sort of big day out for kids.

Any one have any suggestions? I don't want to travel too far or be anywhere too hot at 6 months pregnant but within 4 hours flight time and early 20s temps would be ideal. I'm struggling to find the right place!

Ive only been to Los Christianos (Tenerife) , that was nice but not sure about the beach....and Puerto Rico (Gran Canaria) as an 20 something year old so completely different holiday..although I remember being on a sandy beach there!

It's maybe not warm enough but either of the Center Parcs villages on the Dutch coast tick all your other boxes. I've been several times in May and it's been warm enough to wear shorts and t-shirt and play on the beach.

Costa Del Sol is actually lovely, and a really short flight to Malaga.

Juan Les Pins? Nerja?

You’ve perfectly described Port de Pollença in Majorca. It’s a lovely little town with a wonderful string of beaches with calm sea in a bay. A lovely pedestrian walk along the sea front with restaurants and cafes. We love it there and have been there at various ages of this of our children’s lives from babies and toddlers to 10 year old. usually hire a car too so we can visit the Roman museum and old town in Alcudia, or drive up to the mountains or across to the capital city Palma. Majorca is super family friendly with lots to do for this age and all reasonably close as it’s a small island.

I'd go with Costa del sol too. Marbella can be done perfectly and Danny cheaply at that time of year. It's where we always went with young dc and me heavily pregnant.

Another vote for Nerja. Nice town, good food, beaches to the west of the town centre, massive cave complex for a half day visit, Granada an hour or so away for a full day visit.

Sitges would also meet your criteria. Selection of beaches, historic town, good food, Barcelona and Tarragona for day trips.

Albufeira in the algarve? Nice old town, busy Covent Garden style feel at night (or used to be - not sure of covid impact!) good beaches, water parks nearby, lots of lovely little villages and coves around.

Santa ponsa

Costa del Sol all the way! I was sniffy about it but it’s actually very lovely and such a brilliant mix of touristy, beautiful pueblos, Spanish towns, attractions and gorgeous Malaga.

Thank you, I'll get googling these!

Coasta Adeje in Tenerife. Calm sea, nice and warm, fairly busy so you don't have to do AI, and for days out you can go to Siam Park, up to the Mount Tede volcano (really good day out) or hire a car and drive around the island a bit.

@Yebbie did you make a decision in the end? I’m in an identical position except looking to travel in April, also with a 3year old, also 6m pregnant. Also looking for a warm destination in a hotel from which you can visit a town/nice days out.

From others’ suggestions, I have been to both Nerja and Pollenca and they are both lovely. I did self catering though and now that I have kids I would prefer a hotel with food and entertainment onsite with the option of leaving too. So if anyone has any hotel names to recommend please suggest!

Port de Soller Majorca, you can get the tram up and down from Soller as well, lovely little bay with lots of restaurants.
