Tempted by a trip to Cape town over Easter. Has anyone been recently? (Eg since COVID)
I've never been but just want to check most things are still the same as the guidebook suggests, like are there still plenty of Ubers around or is it best to hire a car etc? Tia x

Uber is very much available, but depending on how much you'de like to travel around, hiring a car might be a good idea. Thinking for wine routes etc.

It is pretty much back to normal as far as covid goes. Remember that mask wearing is still compulsory in public places though. We don't have any curfews now and alcohol is no longer restricted, yay.

Easter is a great time to come. It's one of the peak seasons due to school holidays so try to book accommodation / flights sooner rather than later.

Ooh thanks for that. Yes will consider hiring a car, little nervous of driving in a big city but will have to get over myself.
There are some really good deals going for just after Easter which are very tempting. Just have to decide whether I fancy a 12 flight with a 3 year old...

I’ve been twice pre covid and driving is really easy in Cape Town. With a car you can do trips to Cape of Good Hope, Stellanbosh, Winelands, Boulders Beach and Simon’s Town as well as locals things such as Botanical Garden and the cable car to the top of Table Top Mountain.
Chapmans Peak drive is incredible.

Hi OP, pretty much everything is open subject to mask-wearing. Uber is widely available but I second the recommendation to hire a car. The weather in March April is lovely - warm but no too hot.

I would recommend a direct flight with a 3 year old. The lay over flights are better priced, but they can be a bit long winded with a young child.

I don't think traffic is bad enough to be a major concern, it is as busy as any city. The highways can get busy but it's people going about their day, to and from work etc. I think it will be easier to hire a car, as not everything is that close by, I think in the long run a hire car will be much cheaper and also you will be more flexible to do things. And then there is no car seat changing every time.

Thanks everyone, that's all really helpful to know. Feeling excited now!
